Albert, what a kick in the nads! I suspect Kaiser himself authorized the hit on Carroll. This constant murder of his two-seaters would not stand and something had to be done about it. It’s just too bad none of the wingmen came to the rescue when it mattered the most. I guess 13th Friday is still lethal. It’s up there with the Gong Fairy Curse. Or perhaps it was the almighty drive to hit a 100 confirmed kills? An impressive achievement. Well done. RIP and huzzah for the next man. I hear those Strutters are the rage nowadays.
But no, it’s a fellow Hun! Welcome Sigmund. Why didn’t you apply for U-boat duty? Instead he's being called names by the C.O. but only halfheartedly. Hopefully he flies better than the jokes he's making. At least he was decent enough to take the "brats" to the Kasino for the drink. Looking forward to the adventures of the Kinder.

Welcome back Raine. A lot as happened since your “injury”. You’ve got plenty to catch up with. As for Fergie, not much has changed, has it? Plenty of scraps with numerically superior Fokkers and one inferior. Congrats on making an Ace!

NR, bringing down your foe alive is the best reward. It’s an automatic confirmation, then you get to keep his stuff. He won’t need it anymore. That’s how it goes. As for the Imp, just you wait. It’ll be here soon enough, sprinkling it’s sparkly dust all over.
Klaus has to improvise and if it means putting Eins in ranger, so be it. How many times was he the one getting the Strutter attention? It’s time for payback.
So, Baptiste had another quiet day. There’s nothing wrong with that. A bit of rest, time to resupply, perhaps write a letter or find a camp follower to ease the tensions. Life’s good - it’s the French way.

13 August, 1918 06:45 morning mission
Montingen, Verdun Sector
Jasta 18
Oberleutnant Klaus Gustav Raben PLM HHO EK1 EK2
Fokker D.VII
69 confirmed kills

Both claims for the Bréguets have been rejected. Only the afternoon SPAD could be confirmed. Better this than nothing.
Today was another mission to support ground forces near Malzeville. The Jasta went up and down the front but was unable to spot any enemy activity. They’ve returned with nothing to report.

13 August, 1918 13:20 afternoon mission
Montingen, Verdun Sector
Jasta 18
Oberleutnant Klaus Gustav Raben PLM HHO EK1 EK2
Fokker D.VII
69 confirmed kills

On their afternoon outing the Schwarm caught up with a flight of reluctant SPADs. They simply didn’t want to engage and maintained their height advantage to avoid confrontation. Finally, once the Fokkers were high enough, they’ve decided to attack. Klaus was still too low to get on anybody’s tail, but even without him the enemy was already incurring losses. He watched two of the inept French pilots plough into each other. Soon after Raben was on the tail of one of the remaining SPADs. This one was an odd duck. After sustaining some damage it was spiralling down, then suddenly he shot up and was back on Klaus’ level again. Raben had to convince the enemy to go down again, which he did spinning upside-down. As Klaus watched him go down, the enemy shot up like a rocket back up. Raben couldn’t believe his eyes. What sort of secret project have the French been working on?! In the end the SPAD finally spiralled down and Klaus watched another enemy follow him down soon after. That was all. A feat made easier with the initial collision of the two enemy planes. There was nothing but to return back to base and report on enemy progress in aeronautics.
