I order the boys to get stuck in and select a Hun of my own. I was half expecting (hoping!) from their antics that they would be Stukas. But they're actually Messerschmitt 110s. I pick out one who seems to be on his own, and go for him, trying out a bit of deflection shooting as I close in.



After a couple more bursts, the 110 is leaving behind a grey trail, and struggling to maintain height. He'd have been better rolling over and going down, probably. If there's any return fire from his rear gunner, I'm not aware of it.



Although as a squadron pilot at the time I would not have recognised it, the Messerschmitt bears the black and white unit badge and A2 fuselage code of Zerstorer Geschwader 52, which I gather was absorbed by ZG 2 just before the Battle of Britain started. No matter, my only concern is the number of holes I can put into him.



The Hun stubbornly refuses to be shot down, so I close in fast and let him have another burst.



Small pieces fall off the 110 as I break right.



He rolls right too, but it's merely a prelude...



...to falling out of the sky. Got him!
