In we go! I say 'we' because (though I didn't know it at the time) another Spitfire is going in with me.



I'm completely preoccupied with my own target, and soon shoot a 110 off the tails of the Spitfires attacking the bombers.



But I'm then distracted by a call for help. The likely source is a distant Spit I can see against the clouds, with another 110 rolling in after him.



In my haste to help, I go wide, giving the big Messerschmitt a clear shot at the Spitfire.



But I quickly pull in behind the Hun. My first burst whacks him fair and square and as if in surprise, he pulls up sharply and falls off to one side. There's a scary moment when I flash in front of him but he's in no state to do much about it.



The 110 sorts himself out and makes a run for it. With me after him again. The tables are well and truly turned.



Here I come, ready or not!
