Welcome to SimHQ!

I think Panzer Commander is one of the very few tanks games I didn't own.

Uncle Jesse: You know why tornadoes and blonds are so much alike?
Luke Duke: No.
Uncle Jesse: At first, there's a lot of sucking and blowing, and then you lose your house.

Thanks! I've been a long time lurker here (the SimHQ reviews on the CH HOTAS are why I originally bought a CH set more than a decade ago...)

I never used to be into tank sims much but I've found over the last few years I'm enjoying that aspect of simming, and I still really enjoy some of the older games (every now and then I still load up Secret Weapons of the Luftwaffe..).

The information in this thread provided me a lot of what I needed to get it running in W10.. though I'm still unsure of exactly how I did it.

Also.. anyone around here got the unofficial 1.4 patch hanging around? :P

And because I can't leave well enough alone... now running natively at high resolution. There's one or two little graphical artifacts but much better than anything before. Could probably eliminate them with a few more ini tweaks. Hex editing of the exec was required.

But it looks good and runs smooth.

Edit:

With more testing, it appears that switching to or between internal views quickly will freeze the game, sometimes excessively.

I did get the game running in PCem as well but performance sucks.

Edit 2:

Alright, so I *seem* to have found that using the hacked EXE w/DDCompat and using RTSS to limit the framerate instead of the built-in fake vsync seems to reduce the crashing when switching views. Played 3 missions this morning with zero crashing, so that's good.

Edit 3:

Been playing it a lot and have zero issues. Still need to hunt down the 1.4 patch....
