Insurgency's beta 2 patch is out, files are being uploaded to Fileplanet right now. They should be avaible to download in a few hours.

Hmm, any more feedback on this new release, or is everyone tied up with COD4? Too many great games, but looking for some feedback. The new release is supposed to fix a lot of the bugs according to the preview of 2.0.

Apparently the release wasn't as good as expected, some changes were put in at the last minute that lots of the testers didn't get the opportunity to test. Main thing would be weapon damage, it is taking around 3-4 shots to kill someone with a rifle, which is unrealistic. Another is recoil is too much on most weapons and I beleive the rpm has been unrealisticly increased on the AK-47... I haven't tested the public build yet, but when testing the latest builds before release everything seemed fine. I hope the damage, recoil, and rpm gets fixed/made more realistic in the next release (the game is suppose to be realistic) But most of the bugs did get fixed.


Mailman, the Source SDK Base is required to play Insurgency. You can download it for free if you have any Valve game that uses Source, such as HL2/Ep1/Ep2/CS:S/DoD:S/Portal/TF2 ect.

I played it for the first time yesterday so can't compare it against previous builds. Seems very good and highly tactical. The graphics are top notch and very atmospheric......the recoil is horrifying though.

A SimHQ play-test would be very good me thinks!!

Sounds interesting, I have two copies of HL2 so might have to try it.
I'm going to guess it's strictly adversarial play, no coop against bots, correct?

I tried it awhile back and didn't care for it at all. I've since removed HL2 and Steam.

CoD4 is satisfying my Mid-East/MP itch quite well.

With some busy servers, this could be a great game. Similar to tactical games like Raveshield, if you even attempt to go on your own or run around the map for more than a short bound, you'll be taken down. Slow and steady, with lots of backup rules the day.

I get more impressed the more I play it...if only they'd sort the recoil out - even on the 3-round trigger group, your rifle rakes from horizontal to vertical and loses you your orientation. The audio is also brilliant.

Alright, so I finally downloaded/installed/tried the Beta 2 public build. The recoil wasn't as bad as people were making it out to be... but it should still be toned down, especially for the AK-47 (although I didn't try the MGs or AKS-74U yet). I still haven't "played" on the new map (I joined some testing sessions with the map), so I'm looking forward to trying it. This release was more about fixing bugs than anything else, hopefully some larger changes and features will be released in Beta 3.

I've been unable to connect to any servers and play the previous build or this one since I had Comcast Cable install a new modem to enable cable phone service and a wireless network in my house so that my wife can use her laptop. Worked fine immediately before installation, and immediately after the first thing I did was try Insurgency so I could show the installers what it was like, and I haven't been able to connect since. My latencies are much higher now. I may need to dump my current cable setup or have them split the line so it goes to my computer before it gets routed through the who phone/wireless network modem thingie. \:\(

Hmm, that shouldn't have messed it up that bad. Even a slow up to date wireless connection should give a playable game...something's definately up.
