I rewatched “Full Metal Jacket” last night. This film has stood the test of time. I’d say my personal top 5 Vietnam films are Apocalypse Now, Full Metal Jacket, Platoon, Hamburger Hill and We Were Soldiers.

I saw the new "Garfield" in the theater with my daughter the other night. Good, clean, family comedy that had no wokeness whatsoever. Quite refreshing, actually, that this was greenlit and produced. I did space out here and there because let's face it--this was geared towards a younger audience. I was impressed, however, by the art direction, as they took many of Garfield and Odie's trademark poses from the Jim Davis comic strips and integrated them into the 3D film. Fun movie, but don't take too seriously and laugh at the kid jokes. For those who don't know, Jim Davis sold Garfield and Co. to Nickelodeon a few years ago, so I was pleasantly surprised they didn't try and stuff politics into this movie. They kept it fun. Not going to win any awards, and I add an extra half star because they gave us a movie that just entertained and nothing else. *** out of **** stars (bonus added in).

For me I love : Odd Angry Soldiers, Tigerland, Born on the 4th of July, Uncommon Valor, 84 Charlie Mopic and POW The Escape.
I recommend these two excellent Vietnam War films by French director Pierre Schoendoerffer, about his personal experiences in the Vietnam War as a War Photographer for the French Army https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pierre_Schoendoerffer

Finished Season Six of "Ironside".
Quote
Ironside is an American television crime drama that aired on NBC over eight seasons from 1967 to 1975. The show starred Raymond Burr as Robert T. Ironside (usually addressed by the title "Chief Ironside"), a consultant for the San Francisco police department (formerly chief of detectives), who was paralyzed from the waist down after being shot while on vacation. The character debuted on March 28, 1967, in a TV movie entitled Ironside.
Set in San Francisco CA. We like the "variety" in the cases and how they are handled -- not just one murder after another. The cast interactions are also a bit "over the top" due to Chief Ironside's personality.

I finished re-watching "Paths of Glory" last night. An excellent film overall with a great script and dialogue. My only nitpick is that some of the performances are too "theatrical" for my tastes. In other words, "over-acting".

I never heard of it before but I stumbled across The Name of the Rose on Amazon Prime last night. Anyone that has played Kingdom Come Deliverance monestary quest will see a number of similarities. I wonder if someone at Warhorse took some inspiration from it.
It's a movie about a late 14th monestary murder, heresay, trial, etc... Stars Sean Connrey, Ron Pearlman, Christian Slater and F. Murray Abraham.
It pairs well with The Pilgrimage starring Tom Holland, Jon Bernthal and Richard Armitage.

I rewatched Full Metal Jacket with my son recently. He is 22 and had never seen it. It told him it was a must watch, I even bought the movie on YouTube. He loved it. His eyes bugged out more than once during the boot camp scenes haha. The first half of FMJ is unmatched.
I watched the first episode of Mayor Of Kingstown last night, looks good. I am a fan of Jeremy Renner's acting.

What also strikes me about FMJ is how many unknown actors it had at the time who later on got a ton of work specifically because of FMJ. Matthew Modine, Vincent D'Onofrio and Lee Ermey come to mind.

“The Village” also stretches the realm of plausibility because seriously, just how isolated can a village be in rural Pennsylvania where all the inhabitants (except a couple of village elders) believe it’s the 19th century?

They would totally see and hear planes flying overhead.
Yes, the movie addresses that none were allowed to fly over the airspace, but a wildlife reserve receiving something equivalent to a Class B column designation is farcical.
