This is really different. Can anybody elaborate on just what type of role this thing could take on? I would feel like a sitting duck in this, but I have no experience in the field.

Close air support, delivered from nearly the front-line could be a significant force. Looks like the type of aircraft that can operate from the most rudimentary forward airstrips. Getting timely air support almost instantaneously from planes like these makes them very attractive. Fast-movers may be sexier and carry greater payloads but, if it takes them many hours to fly in from distant bases to deliver their ordnance, these on-the-spot little planes could do better.

Economical counter-insurgency / close air support to ground troops.

The air force has been wanting to get rid of the A-10s. This won't be as rugged, but it will be much cheaper to operate and maintain, and as Herman said, it should be able to be operated from simpler air fields / roads. Tradeoffs.

Amazing that such a small airframe can bear half as much again payload as the B-17 or British Mosquito!

Doesn't have the speed or range of either though.
The B17 had a remarkably small payload for it's size, a B24's was 1/3 larger & a Lancaster's was nearly 4x.

Not a lot of payload, but those things have a good deal of loiter time, so they'd probably be utilized more as a FAC(A) role targeting and guiding in other aircraft's strikes.

Looks like a modified ag spray airplane.

There was only 16 squadrons of RAF fighters that used 100 octane during the BoB.
The Fw190A could not fly with the outer cannon removed.
There was no Fw190A-8s flying with the JGs in 1945.

Super Tucano could do the job very well, but it is built in Brazil. CoVid and Russia/Ukraine has taught everyone the importance of having control over vital industries.

It's been 20 years or so. Which is pretty scary when you think about it, especially comparing how many aircraft were produced in pretty much every other 20 year period.

i searched on this f-22 thing and i just found you guys made a new f-15EX that is better than f-22 because for whatever reason the avionics of f-22 couldnt be upgraded so its actually behind the fleet. WTH.
also hard to believe f-15 is turning 50 already

I find it even harder to believe that I am going to be 58 years old in less than 6 months. old_simmer
That and that the B-52 is slated to fly as a front line aircraft until at least 2050. Almost a full century after their maiden flight and almost 90 years since the last one was built. zombie

Wow. Do you think the days of the light attack aircraft are numbered due to the advancements in strike drones?
