If you don't like the idea of eating insects, bear in mind there are all kinds of legislature controlling "acceptable levels" of insect content in your food. That level is not zero
When you buy an apple pie, do you imagine it's the best most untouched apples that go into it, or the more.... unsaleable apples?

I Ate a few back in my Motorcycle Days. Carried Toothpicks for long runs. I just had to look Cool
I started riding just a couple of years ago. Wanted to get contact lenses so I could go with flying style goggles, to "look cool". Before that happened I took a few bees to the face shield, along with various and sundry other bugs whose remains were unidentifiable...even dental records would have been useless. Add to that some June Bugs to the dome, throat and knees, and not only am I considering upgrading to a full helmet I may buy some catcher's shin guards.
SALUTE TO ALL!

I was going to mention unintentional bug-eating whilst biking. Then I remember the look of horror when visting potential business as stunned insects recovered and emerged from my beard Had a bee once go up nostril and emerge from mouth, not a pleasant experience, but one can't wear a full-face helmet on a Harley, can one. Not the done thing!

I consider myself an open-minded eater and will try most foods, especially if they're known to be healthy for you. I've even tried insects (ants and grasshoppers, IIRC) for the novelty and just for the hell of it.
But I draw the line at roaches and worms that aren't inhabiting the bottom of a tequila bottle...

Uh...no. Just no.

There was only 16 squadrons of RAF fighters that used 100 octane during the BoB. The Fw190A could not fly with the outer cannon removed. There was no Fw190A-8s flying with the JGs in 1945.

Saw a story on my local news yesterday. This being a cicada year, a candy store, I forget where, was frying the critters and covering them in chocolate to sell. They also offer a cream-filled chocolate shaped like a cicada.
SALUTE TO ALL!

We had chocolate covered grasshoppers we ate back in the day.

I used to watch a lot of foodie programs, having been a cook for years and realizing that many cultures have been eating lots of things most westerners would probably barf over. I've watched Andrew Zimmern eat stuff that even he said was disgusting and I believe him.
I would probably try fried grubs, grasshopper, but if someone gave me a chocolate cicada filled with cream I would likely vomit just from the texture and the thought of it.
