I just finished watching the whole series for the first time and like it. A LOT. My sleeve is soaking wet from wiping my eyes during the series finale! You might not realize it at the time but you really develop a connection to the characters when a show is well thought-out and written. I can’t even imagine how it must have been for the cast who spent so much time together for up to 5 years. I liked seasons 3-5 best, the tone was a lot darker and more gritty. A lot of the episodes really made you think, one in particular I remember was the “Gethsemane” episode. The one thing they never mentioned, however, was whether Sheridan’s & Delenn’s son got the Keeper in the cup that Londo left as a gift. I’d just like to know one way or another.

B5 is one of my top 5 shows of all time. Its greatest strengths are the 5 year story arc, the multi-year in-depth character arcs and the compelling world-building created by JMS and other people involved with the show like Syd Mead and Harlan Ellison.
The only weakness I've found with the show is the campiness/cheesiness of some of the episodes from season 1. These episodes also had some pretty atrocious guest actors.

Season 1 is the only season of B5 where JMS didn't write the majority of the episodes and it really shows!

The one thing they never mentioned, however, was ... I’d just like to know one way or another. Those events are further described in a canonic trilogy of novels - "Legions of Fire" by Peter David.

Yup. You also get to find out what happened to Lyta Alexander after she leaves the B5 station with G'Kar in the Psi Corps novels.
