Play as long as you pay!

Yeah....right.

Sounds like also they will use this to charge you to play alpha and beta versions.

This actually sounds like a great idea for people who buy PC games and spend at most maybe 10 hours playing them before they move on to something else. I know lots of people who do that.

Does it seem like a lot or PC gamers these days have an acute case of short attention span or something? All the time I'll see some of my Steam friends jump from game to game to game like every 10 minutes or so.

They've had this on XB1 for a while now, and it's a decent deal when you buy the service for a year which lately has been on sale for $24.

Some decent amount of gaming for that cost per year for those that don't mind playing EA games (Madden, FIFA, NHL, Battlefield) about 6 months after they are out...

PS. You can count me in on one of those that has gamer short attention span... I usually play like 5-10 different games per week, my gaming is in spurts between family and work responsibilities, my moods change on what I feel like playing alot.

Heh, I don't consider that to be a short attention span at all! I'm talking about someone playing 3-5 games within the span of about 2 hours. smile

This is the way the world is going and that's fine with me, I'm mostly checked out already anyway. The other day I started playing the original CoD and realized I have so many of these old titles (e.g. Jedi Knight and RTCW are in the queue) to revisit, enough to last my lifetime.

The rental world can carry on without me. smile

It's nothing new of course. People have been renting console games since the late 80's.

Renting PC games makes perfect sense if you mostly play first person shooters or if you want to have a good amount of time to test out a game to see if you like it.

It would have been a good deal if new single player PC games were on there. Otherwise you may as well buy them for $5 or less. MP games? It is a nice way to try them before you fork over $60, but you're still out $5. Didn't like it? Wasted money. Liked it? Now you're paying $65 instead of $60.

I think it would be okay for one-and-done games.

There are quite a few top title games that once one strips out the multiplayer have little replay value (I'm looking at you Call of Duty and Tomb Raider). Plus they're not really long in duration of play in their single person modes.

I feel like games haven't lived up to what I imagined they would. Most SimHQ'ers were around in the late 80's to mid 90's when playing games that year over year were exponentially better.

There are very few games I find that graphics aside, really draw me in like they used to. To make it worse, the better the graphics get, the more jarring it is when something breaks that immersion.

For example, I remember the first time I snuck into a British port in SH5, and.... There was nothing there. I surfaced the boat, and it didn't feel like much of a war, as I bobbed there. I never had that broken immersion feeling playing Falcon 3 or SWOTL.

I play Panzer Corps a lot as that mechanic has kept me busy since '94 and Panzer General. Every time I pick up something new I feel like it fails me somehow and I go back to some old standby game.

I have Elite Dangerous with an Oculus and a decent stick setup. It is absolutely spectacular. But at the end of the day, it's really no different than the original Elites.
