Does it seem like a lot or PC gamers these days have an acute case of short attention span or something? All the time I'll see some of my Steam friends jump from game to game to game like every 10 minutes or so.
I feel like games haven't lived up to what I imagined they would. Most SimHQ'ers were around in the late 80's to mid 90's when playing games that year over year were exponentially better.
There are very few games I find that graphics aside, really draw me in like they used to. To make it worse, the better the graphics get, the more jarring it is when something breaks that immersion.
For example, I remember the first time I snuck into a British port in SH5, and.... There was nothing there. I surfaced the boat, and it didn't feel like much of a war, as I bobbed there. I never had that broken immersion feeling playing Falcon 3 or SWOTL.
I play Panzer Corps a lot as that mechanic has kept me busy since '94 and Panzer General. Every time I pick up something new I feel like it fails me somehow and I go back to some old standby game.
I have Elite Dangerous with an Oculus and a decent stick setup. It is absolutely spectacular. But at the end of the day, it's really no different than the original Elites.
