I'm confused about whether or not the single player campaign requires a broadband internet connection.

I can fly RoF offline. Is BoS the same?

If BoS is updated with a decent single player campaign I'd purchase it, but not if it can't be played offline.

Internet
The SP "Unlock Campaign" requires Internet connection, since the "achievements" is controlled be 777/1C server.

In offline mode (requires save the email/password) you can play QM, Single Missions.

Seems that you can't use unlocked contend in offline mode, due the server control.
I am not able to use Stuka siren (my only "unlock" smile ) in this mode.

The game starts just fine offline (so far). Just start it from the Il-2.exe, bypassing the Launcher.exe
It's located here:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\1C Game Studios\IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad\bin\game\Il-2.exe"

All unlock restrictions still apply though.

EDIT: I seem to be able to use all the unlocked stuff offline, unlike Sokol1.

So when playing a campaign, one must be connected to the internet for the entire mission?

ok, that is good to know, thanks!

I'm still confused some. If I launch from the exe and play a campaign, will unlock points be awarded?

You have to be online to earn points toward the unlocks. You can't play the stock/unlock campaign offline.

Sorry, but starting it with IL-2.exe still is online.

Thanks for the answer Cloyd.

One more question; would a broadband satellite connection work?

Due to lag it doesn't work for online multiplayer, but I wonder if it would for the single player campagn.

Disconnect your network cable to check it out. It starts for me.

Can't help with that one. I don't know how much, how often info gets traded between server and client in the campaign.

I've no clue about that either.
Thanks again for the info.

Internet
I test here now, with Internet cable unplugged.

Start the Launcher result in "Failed to update".

Start the il2.exe access the game (the email/password was saved, a file is placed in data/ACCData folder).

And now a curious thing: The Stuka siren became available.

Exit the game, plug the Internet cable.

Run again be il2.exe, Stuka siren available.

Run be Launcher.exe - but choose offline mode. Stuka siren available.

Since I was unlocked that siren yesterday and the siren became available logged, but not in offline mode, seems that take a time to server add the unlocked contend in your account for offline use.

For the SP (Unlock) Campaign you are using the Internet for download the mission and upload the result, so is probable that the connection lag will be not a issue.
