Yeah I quickly got spoiled with A-10C's excellent code. I run on almost full graphics (prior to 1.1.0.9 I ran full graphics) then I installed rise of flight and yeah that code isn't nearly as good so had to go to medium-medium low.

The TSSAA checkbox caused my mouse to not activate any cockpit switches. I unchecked TSSAA and the mouse can click away like it should.

Okay, I can say for sure now there is no difference between game mode and simulation when it comes to how "light" the aircraft feels. I tried both modes. The weightlessness feeling of what is supposed to be a flying tank is the same in both modes. Sim mode is just more complex to fly. What improved the "feel" of the aircraft was my activation of the centering spring on my G940. I now experience the sensation of some weight and not as much of a floating feeling.

On to the training missions!!!!

Have you tried a fully loaded aircraft (full fuel and ordnance) yet?

Yes. Same thing. Simply put, it just feels lighter than I was expecting. It feels like I'm flying a slow F16. Perhaps my expectations of a flying "tank" were too literal?

Try pulling 9g's, see how much like an F-16 it feels then ... ever flown an F-16?

I still think you need to add some curvature to the Axes.

At default, in my opinion, the stick is too sensitive. Bear in mind that your joystick, with a maximum throw of say 6-8 inches, is mimicking a stick with a throw of I'm guessing 2 or more feet. To make the sim feel right, in my opinion, it is better to adjust the sensitivity near the centres of the Axes. You do this by adding Curvature to in the AXIS options.

Try it and see, I use a Curve value of 30 - experiment with it yourself.

Ah... if by "light," you mean the aircraft turns/banks/rolls quickly, then yes, it does. A clean a/c will have higher speed, more acceleration, and can pull more Gs without losing too much airspeed, while a fully loaded a/c will struggle to get to cruising speed, weak acceleration, and will bleed energy like there's no tomorrow. However, throw the stick left or righ and the aircraft does feel rather nimble regardless of loadout. I do believe this is due to the aircraft's design and wing design, allowing it to loiter and perform well at slow speeds.

Try going up against some ZSU-23s, your "poor man's AAA," in the two configurations (loaded and light), drop to 2,000-3,000 feet, and play with the -23. I think when you start yanking and banking and start thinking "#%&*$#, I gotta get outta here," you'll appreciate the difference of the two configs better.

Plainsman,
You need to get to know this aircraft - give it some time in a few battle senarios and give your self a lot of time getting home after them. If you're in this for the sim side then the Warthog is it.

Yeah, it probably is easy enough to diss the aircraft when you're all nice and comfy but when the skies start filling up with AAA tracers and your RWR is screaming, you'll find you start to appreciate things.

Oh, and regarding the "flying tank," once you come home from a sortie and find out the left and right side of your canopy look like swiss cheese, you'll appreciate the "tank" part biggrin

I'm still in training. It may be awhile before I return to "Instant Action." I did get hi with a some kind of SAM when I tried INstant Action. There was smoke trailing out of one wing. White smoke. Fortunately the smoke went away but my plane flew a bit oddly afterwards. And then I crashed. I didn't know which buttons to push to defeat the missiles climbing up from the ground. Does this thing have chaff and flares? And where are the enemy fighters?

the aircraft does indeed have a counter measures system (CMS), theres a tutorial for it i think., and why would you want to see enemy fighters?, if you can see those you're in real deep #%&*$# biggrin.

check out ED's site for guides and other info, theres also a wiki page. http://en.wiki.eagle.ru/wiki/Tutorial_Collection

as for the "light feeling" like many have stated, it's how the actual AC is, i think you're getting the "flying tank" and the AC's capabilities confused.
it's designed to fly with a wing missing, and engine out, the avionics shot out and a myriad of other things, and to top it all that huge cannon which the plane is wrapped around, hence the flying tank.

regard the bird settings, birds are not modeled, all it does is increase your chances of bird strike.

Ditto huckster's comments.

In addition, the A-10 is actually a very nimble creature - that rectangular "hershey bar" wing creates a lot of drag when trying to go fast, but at low speeds it can create a lot of lift, making for relatively tight turns. This, of course, is by design.

The A-10 is slow and ugly, but she ain't clumsy!

If you want to try a flying tank, give the Su-25T a go in Flaming Cliffs, an aircraft with the agility of an asthmatic snail. You'll be back praising how awesome the A10C is after that WinkNGrin.

... until you realize that they're in fact about the same? wink
The A-10C will turn tighter circles at the same turn rate - but the Frog has more energy while not losing out on TR. It all depends on who suckers whom into who's fight ...

I think Mohawk was referring to doing low-and-slow-flight around the battlefield - turning back around to line up on a tank/APC, etc. - the A-10's strength. The Su25 certainly has a faster top speed and better "fast airplane" characteristics than the A-10, but just does not have the same slow-speed handling characteristics of the Warthog. Turning low and slow around the battlefield to put your pipper on tanks/APCs is much easier in the A-10 than in the Frog.
