Hey Guys,

I recently purchased a brand new Samsung 980 Pro M.2 nVME drive and I insztalled windows on it. I was having some abnormnalities and decided to load up Parted Magic and check the drive out. well to me surprise when in Partition editor there was a 580MB Hidden Partition which I thought was strange along with the normal windows partitions.

So I decided to err on the sideof caution and wiped all the partitions out and secure erased the drive several times and also had nuked it again with Red Key..

I am trying to figure out if this was something bad or is it just common to have hidden partitions in a brand new drive from the factory? I say nay to the hidden partition and I have read that some users have did this from the factory and it was not under good intentions.. but I also read this is normal, so what is it normal or abnormal to have a hidden partition on a drive from the factory sealed..

What were the partitions called? When you install Windows there usually gets plopped a Recovery partition and an EFI System partition.

well I forget now but the windows partitions were there and this was a hidden partition.. I don't recall windows putting in a hidden partition in any version if Windows.. it was there from the factory.. just curious that is all..
