It´s been around for awhile (2012) and while It´s not the prettiest looking sim In todays standards, It shines over the others In driving experience (physics, FFB etc.). More of a sandbox sim, and kind of crude In some aspects but makes It up with It´s feel and Integration with Steams workshop content. It recently received a UI update of which the older UI was a major let down for some, although It still has It´s rough edges but nothing a good simmer can get over with. Personally It´s my favorite racing sim.
Plenty of freeware Included with rFactor 2 along with everything In Steams Workshop. But as with most of the sims today, you do have paid content, although never as pricey as DCS or MSFS 2020 etc.

Bare In mind that on some videos you will see a mix of the older UI, and older content from the ISI days, so just take that Into account while watching some of the rFactor 2 YT content. Some might be outdated, some not, and some might be new. So be sure to double check before buying and/or Installing. Same goes for mods!

rFactor 2 Mirror Adjusting & Tips Mirrors are adjusted using combinations of your keyboard Ctrl, Alt and Shift keys and the (user assigned) in-game seat adjustment controls: Fore, Aft, Up and Down. To avoid confusion I have used the in-game names, Fore, Aft, Up and Down and not any user assigned controller/keyboard buttons or keys. When using Ctrl and/or Shift it doesn't matter if you use the left or right one. When using Alt, use Left Alt if you find Right Alt does not work. This is to do with your Windows region and keyboard settings. If you want Right Alt to work I'll leave that up to you and google search.
Not all adjustments work in VR.

A guide to the new sound engine Introduced In the recent release candidate of rF2. Test cars who benefit fully from this new sound engine are at the end of your car list under TEST (Indycar (2020), Formula Pro and Oreca 07). Still to confirm If the Indycar (2020) and the Formula Pro actually benefit from this, Oreca 07 Is confirmed for sure. These are all three paid DLC´s btw. They will add the new engine to other cars, but for now just the TEST cars. You can still hear the differences but not 100%. Be sure to set your sound effects to 120, or higher (256 is max.).
Edit: The three cars mentioned use the new sound engine fully. On next months (May) full release of the RC, the rest of cars will get updated to the new sound engine.
