I owned a 2.0 litre Capri finished in puke-green with a black vinyl roof.

Whilst on our honeymoon in deepest Wales (1994) it shredded the cambelt but being the 2.0 litre it survived engine damage. A local BMW dealer in Haverfordwest (it's still there I believe), towed us in, and took us to lunch whilst it was repaired. It was an early end to the honeymoon, the repair bill finished off most of our funds.

When I bought the car, the owner said there is a new cambelt in the boot. Well, stupid me took it out before departing on the love-trip and despite a mate saying I ought to get it fitted I thought 'what are the chances the belt will go'?

Pretty high as it happens smile Lesson learned. All my cars since have always had the belt done as per the correct interval.

Well, that was about the worst time for a car to break down, but as you say, lesson learned. Never forget about Murphy's Law, and I think a corollary to that would be "and at the worst possible time."

Yeah, it proved to be a real coitus interruptus.

There is a rather sad looking one abandoned in a farmyard adjacent to us. I've just taken this snap of it for this thread.
Geezer in the village who restores cars as an interest implored the farmer for to sell it to him, but was refused.

I owned 2 TR7s... a 77 coupe and a 79 convertible. Loved them. Cracked the unibody on both. They don't take to being airborne very well

Lmao, what were you doing to get them airborne - jumping on a favorite hill or getting into spectacular wrecks?

It's not being airborne that they object to - it's the landing! neaner
Humpback bridges or country roads?

I think that the TR7 converible is a nice looking car & once they dropped the V8 in it gained reasonable performance for the times.

I have a buddy who has three. A TR7 that drives , a TR7 for parts and a TRB with engine mods that is a quick little bugger
