Hope all are keeping well:
I played CFS3 years ago on, and am considering getting back into flight sims, particularly OFF. I'm tech ignorant and in need of new gear. I've read the system requirements, Greek to me. Without opening Pandora's box, I need advice on a new tower, joystick, foot pedal etc. The more I read the more confused I get. Thanks...Happy Trails

Most stuff will work. I know that's not particularly helpful but...Welcome to the forums!!! Also, be sure to budget in for some TrackIR or similar technology. Also also, shop around as prices seem to be all over the place at different sites. I use the Thrustmaster T16000M, which works pretty well. You can probably get by without a separate throttle quadrant, but with WWI birds, rudder pedals work better than the twist on the stick. My pedals are Saitek Pro Flights, or maybe the previous generation of those...

The older I get, the more I realize I don't need to be Han, Luke or Leia. I'm just happy to be rebel scum...

I built a new box about the time BHAH II came out. I think it may be a little overkill so I wont even go into the specs. What I did notice is the latest version runs much smoother than any of the others, though it may not run as fast. My advice is do not pay attention to frame rates. Anyhoo, I am running the T1600M and throttle quadrant that matches up to it, it has plenty of buttons and hats to run the game and sliders and wheels to run throttle mixture and prop pitch (Wings over the Reich). The throttle quadrant has a rudder lever on the front of it if you do not want pedals. I used to use something similar before getting my rudder pedals (Saitek) which are just about the oldest set out there. TracIR is a must, once you have it you will be unable to fly without it, mine is actually a IR4 which uses the IR5 software (which pretty much shows how dependable they are and how long they last).

You will have to talk to the tech guys about box specs. My box has an Intel 9 which is multiple core (I think 11) and runs at 3.6 ghz unclocked (it is not clocked). I have 32gb of ram and a 2tb ssd hard drive, the vid card is an Nvidia RTX 2080 Super with 16 gbs. I don't plan or replacing the box for a long time.

More Scotch and Stogies for my Wingman!
