Has anyone moved to an M.2 SSD exclusively for their system? I hear they are lightning fast. If so, what is your experience?

Yup,I have. It's a Samsung SM951 256GB M.2 PCI-e 3.0 x 4 NVMe running on an MSI Z170A PC MATE mainboard. I believe it's important to have the x4 interface on the mainboard to get the full benefit of the drive.

Some speeds(obviously using test software,so not real-world performance),but it gives you an idea.

Sequential write 784 MByte/sec Sequential read 1701 MByte/sec

For a comparison, one of my WD blacks...

Sequential write 113 MByte/sec Sequential read 122 Mbyte/sec

My Crucial 256GB MX100 SSD has a read speed of around 515 MByte/sec

In the real world, boot time is under 10 seconds,I think I did time it once at 7 seconds (Win 10).

I don't keep all my games on it,just the ones I play regularly or the ones I want to cut out long loading times.

If sitting around twiddling your thumbs waiting for things to load isn't your thing, then you will benefit from one.

very nice. I'm looking at the 950 Pro right now.
