I know that the F-86 is still a beta model and will have few bugs, but it is getting very exasperating with each new thing that I can not get working. Now I find that after clicking the slash key to contact the ground crew to hook up the APU for start up, I do not get a further menu after clicking F8 to get to the F2 for ground crew to hook up. So can not cold start engine. BAD!
Sure would like the devs to fix some stuff instead of waiting for the new version to make the fixes.

I think the issue is that the airfield might not be set to your side, in which case the ground crew won't respond.

Verify airbase side in the F10 map. Just having a blue aircraft isn't enough for some reason, chuck down a blue ground unit nearby.

I am trying the startup in the "Cold Start" mission that comes with the sim for the F-86 which has to be an allied base with a another F-86 sitting close by. Also tried in MP last night to start and was not able to wake the ground crew there either. I was hoping that if this is a bug, it would have been fixed with the latest patch, but sounds like forum pilots here may not be having this problem.......?

Just tried it, worked fine. Try going into controls and see what comm keys you can use, I've heard of that being the issue before.

What I am disappointed about is that the entire sight has been even more broken than it was previously, instead of actually being fixed. I hope this is fixed quickly, because the Sabre is the only module in DCS that I actually enjoy in the long term, beyond the study aspect.

The only comm key in Controls for both F-96 Easy and Real is "Communication Menu" which is the back slash key. When slash key is used, menu appears with F8 for Ground Crew and when F8 key is used.......no new menu appears.

Try another aircraft. It sounds like it ought to affect others than just the Sabre, might want to reinstall or repair DCS.

Have you got any applications running in the background that use the F8 key? I know that if I'm running TrackIR with it's default profile, F8, F7, F9 & F12 will have no effect in DCS because TrackIR is using them.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Think I know what the problem is: my F8 key is no longer working and I will buy a new keyboard and hopefully solve the problem.

Well.....it was not a BAD F8 keystroke in old keyboard as thought. Got new keyboard and still the F8 key does not bring up the Ground Crew. Found out that others have this same problem that is cause by the F8 key being used with TrackIR4. Was suggested that I reassign the TrackIR F8 to another unused DCS F-86 key, which I did with no joy. The F8 key does bring up the Ground Crew when TrackIR is not turned on.

Solved the problem by updating my TrackIR4 version to the to the latest version 5.2.2 which does not have a F8. Am able to contact Ground Crew now for F-86 startup.
