IMHO, that second shot is not all that flattering. It lacks all of the pop and detail that the first shot definitely has. Yeah, I agree. I must confess that I still haven't seen anything in the EDGE imagery to date that's really made me sit up and take notice. I suspect, however, that you need to see it in motion to really appreciate the improvements. As regards that last picture, someone on ED's Facebook page commented something like " Love the nose lights. Perfect for finding the keys if you've dropped them or perhaps a stray packet of peanuts".

Or were they trying to show low light conditions with cloud cover? I's rather see shots from all different aspects than just those perfect high noon shots You are right though.. the staff photographer should be fired for not choosing a better time of day and perfect lighting conditions... :P

I just personally would have picked a different shot composition for marketing purposes. Just a personal taste.. All that said, 99% of the shots on the ED Facebook page look really good. One of the best shots I've ever seen is this one: Love that shot. BeachAV8R

IMHO, that second shot is not all that flattering. It lacks all of the pop and detail that the first shot definitely has. It's the complete absence of shadows. It looks like there's no lighting at all, except for on those two distant buildings next to the tail. In reality, even ambient light generates soft shadows beneath an object. Without them, the F-86 looks like it isn't connected to the ground. The only thing that gives you any sense of the plane interacting with the ground are the projections from the nose lights. Without those, it would be impossible to understand if the plane were sitting on the ground or floating above it. Was it meant to be flattering? Or were they trying to show low light conditions with cloud cover? I's rather see shots from all different aspects than just those perfect high noon shots A promotional screenshot should be flattering. Now are they trying to showcase the sky in low light conditions? Or are they trying to showcase the F-86. If the latter, it would have made more sense to show the light interacting with the aircraft. You are right though.. the staff photographer should be fired for not choosing a better time of day and perfect lighting conditions... :P
Come on. Why get so defensive? It was a legitimate criticism. Now having said all that, the first picture looks very good.

It's the complete absence of shadows. That was my thought too. The plane looks sort of pasted on the terrain as opposed to looking what I *know* DCS planes can look like with their gorgeous lighting and terrain.. BeachAV8R

Not being defensive just pointing out the shot isn't for a marketing campaign, just a different shot.... You have remember its EDGE but not an EDGE built map as well... Black Sea isn't going to flatter much with old art assets... IMHO, that second shot is not all that flattering. It lacks all of the pop and detail that the first shot definitely has. Very nice, Sabres and MiGs will be a lot of fun!
That Farrow bloke you executed today, are you sure he's dead? Well I chopped his head off, that usually does the trick. Yes, don't get clever with me Baldrick. I just thought you might have lopped off a leg or something by mistake. No, the thing I chopped off had a nose.

I'll be reading it. This is one airplane that I want to master. I want to kick some serious MiG-15 ass. I hope it's good. One thing, though. They sure are getting a lot of mileage out of that pilot. With all the work they put into these airplanes I can't help but wonder why each one can't have its own pilot figure. Maybe somebody can paint that helmet white. But its hardly a deal breaker! I'm going to have to admit that I've been pretty "meh" about DCS so far, but THIS I'm looking forward to.
