His Books were a huge influence on me, and I've read them all at least twice. His books were my favorite way to relax back in high school and middle school. S!

All right, sweethearts, what are you waiting for? Breakfast in bed? Another glorious day in the corps! A day in the Marine Corps is like a day on the farm. Every meal's a banquet! Every paycheck a fortune! Every formation a parade! I LOVE the corps!

My paperback of Red Storm Rising fell apart, I read it so many times....

As for the Ryan books... I'd have to say I enjoyed The Sum of All Fears or HFRO the most.

I enjoyed the movies, with the exception of Sum of All Fears. I felt it strayed too far from the book and left too much out.

RIP. Only read a few of his books, Rainbow Six, Red October, Red Storm Rising... He seemed like one of those authors who had a few really good books, but a lot of books that just didn't sound too appealing. Personal opinion.

Sad to see him go though.

I refuse to buy a flight sim that I have no interest in playing, on the off chance that MAYBE someday they'll make the one I really want to play.

RIP. Lots of great memories from growing up and reading his books. Later in life they've provided me with a really great link to my childhood.

He will be greatly missed.

I still think R6 would make a good film, but the eco-terrorist plot obviously would never survive unchanged. The powers in Hollywood would never accept it.

RIP Mr Clancy!

Read most of his books, some several times. His books are page-turners - and that's about the highest praise an author can be given.

A new video for Dreamland (NATO) [MP] has been added the YouTube Harpoon for Dummies channel to help Harpoon players navigate the complexities of the game and to deliver the best possible playing experience.

We just learned of Tom Clancy's passing. This is how we wish to remember him. He was a game player before he was an author. He gave a lot to the wargame community and inspired a lot of interest in the hobby. He wrote "The Hunt for Red October" and "Red Storm Rising". This scenario, Dreamland, depicts a memorable scene from "Red Storm Rising."

Fair winds and following seas, Tom

The plot for The Sum of All Fears was changed... Wouldn't be politically correct for the terrorists to be ... Gasp... Muslim, would it? Since the movie came out shortly after 9/11, it would be interesting to know if any of it was changed after the fact.

Making the villains Neo-Nazis in "Sum of All Fears" was also hilariously outdated. Fear of Neo-Nazis is soooo 1990's.
