But films have never been released and after the first weekend there is an uproar and people demanding a different ending.

No, people just slam the movie as crap. Ask any decent director and he'll admit a bad ending can make people forget how good the rest of the film was, no matter how good.

Another notorious one is Blade Runner's "happy ending."

Ugh. Just finished the game. The endings were indeed total crap. Overall, ME3 is a weak way to end the series. Very uninspired.

Interesting article. I have heard that Bioware is going to announce in April what changes if any they are going to make. I think I will hold out for a hopefully improved ending before I play ME3.

I'm so glad I decided to hold off on getting this.

I really, really enjoyed ME3. If you are a fan of the first two games, then I wouldn't hesitate to pick up the third. Having said that, I understand being on the fence after all the nerdrage over then endings. Hopefully there will be some news about that April 6th, as BioWare has a slot at PAX to talk about Mass Effect.

I'm going to weigh in here and say that Bioware does have a history of bad endings. Anyone here play Neverwinter Nights 2? That ending makes the ME 3 ending seem like Oscar material. They released an expansion Mask of the Betrayed which satisfied customers much better. I can't see BW killing the ME franchise and the endings provided pretty much do that, so I can see an expansion coming.

KOTOR 1 had a great ending.

Obsidian's KOTOR 2 had a horrible one, although that was reportedly due to rushing by the publisher.

I quite liked the ending to the first Mass Effect but I have mixed feelings about the ending to ME 2. Fighting some humongous T-100 Terminator model just seemed odd.
