Folks,

lamurt:

Very well said. Even instant gratification is not fast enough for moi. I suppose with so few doing the work the pace is going to be slow and the news about any progress will dribble in just as slowly. I am just happy someone has taken up the cause.

I did a little coding in Basic years ago but that is about it. I do not have the skill to help even if it were solicited. I am a better than fair hand with Photoshop 7 and Illustrator 8 but that is about it.

Those videos were fun to watch. I'm afraid after doing so that when I stepped into the cockpit of my MA brand F86 the instruments suffered greatly by comparison. Having watched Peter D's mods I can see that I would also prefer another version of the F-86 with the orange striping and perhaps the checkered tail. I'll check out what you used.

IL2-46 is running so well now I have to wonder how much of a hit my FPS might take from the modding, especially the new terrain? We shall soon see. As I typed before right now it runs perfectly with everything maxed out. I could stand another gig or two of fast RAM and a new vid card with multi-impossigygabytes of RAM and a better sound card also a bigger fan...and a new motherboard and.... Hmmmm. I think I'll keep the purty box though.

IMHO, I doubt that the number of fliers will be enough to really sustain anything other than co-op. A better FM is something we will get with Project Galba/SoW:Korea.

I'd humbly submit that the kind of innovation in 'game world' features and novel ideas being discussed is probably more valuable for the resurrected sim's 'cult value' and memorability than improving fidelity along standard lines.

Folks,

I'm afraid 'Galba' will not help me much as running SOW is already beyond the capability of my ancient box. Ditto ROF and other desirable and relatively new titles. I will cope the best I can and settle for what I can get from mods and perhaps a little improvement of MA until that fine Christmas Day when I open a colorful box holding a brand new system and my continued faith in old Santa Claus is finally justified....

i have no idea what that sentence means, nor who you are and your relation to sow:korea or to ma.

Folks,

That was a tiny bit cryptic. Perhaps English is not his native tongue? I think he just said all this is just "much ado about nothing". wink

I think MA was almost perfect with the exception of the bugs and hard landing the planes. I didn't care about multiplayer back then.

Folks,

Yes, it was good back then though I recall so many complained about one thing or another. Today it is a bit dated though I am enjoying it having added the 'no CD' plus several plane and sound mods.

In truth, I seem to recall that according to Dave Whiteside and Rod Hyde himself Rowan was rushed by Empire to bring MA to market before it was completed and they never had the chance to polish it. The graphics could have been better and a several other things. The BDG took it on and did some fine work but for various reasons including more pressing duties working with Shockwave on BoB2 that was not completed either.

Someone should type something here now and again.
