TORNADO!

...there hasn't been a reliable Desert Storm sim since JF-15, right? So that's something I'd like to see

...or a (fictional) Europe-cold-war-gone-hot / Fulda Gap sim.

...but I also would settle for a complete retro-mod for FSX - being able to choose a decade starting in the 1930s and having all planes, (own and AI), airfields and even navigation aids, urban/rural areas etc. reflect this period. A bit what Bill Lyons did with his Golden Wings mod for FS2004 - but more extensive.

There is another theory which states that this has already happened.

Gone
Now that we have below out or coming soon-

RoF
SoW: BoB
SoW: Korea (should include 50s carrier ops)
DCS: A-10
Jet Thunder maybe (80s Falkland Is carrier ops)
Combat Helo (Apache!)

the only real thing missing for me is modern carrier ops such as F/A-18, possibility that DCS may do that next. I'd also like to see Vietnam choppers done at fidelity level of Black Shark. That would be an epic game.

Strange that people keep asking for stuff that's already being done by others.

I want to fly the B-1 nap on earth with mach 1 behind enemy USSR lines, in a cold war gone bad scenario! Or the F-111, this is kind of an underrated plane.

russian and western approach to flight sims are quite distant from each other. even if russians could pull off another falcon4 i am not sure it'd be as impressive and has just as immersion if you get what i mean.

for me, my dream sim would be Mig Alley 2 with
  • dynamic campaign better than Falcon4's with more interaction for the player on the strategic layer (despite being so unique, falcon's dynamic campaign system is so limited that i can prolly write a thesis on this..)
  • the role playing element of Falcon3 where you could micromanage pilots, and now as an addition equipment and whatnot.
  • better comms environment than Falcon4's.
  • a mission builder on par with Tornado (and steel beasts -yeah i know it's a tank sim- with it's uber trigger system)
  • gfx that are nice to look at, tho more importantly the weather representation on par with FSX REX or any other similar addon for msfs, they are usually a sight to behold and at times the image is just like a painting which causes awe.
  • a terrain which is NOT built with repetitive tiles. (i haven't seen any title like this so far, so it may be the pipe dream..)

these are the ones that came to me in a short time, good luck and godspeed.

A Hornet would be nice.
Oh www.seveng-f18.com is working on this. Maybee they will finish their work, maybee not.
A new Viper could be fun.
Study sim like F4AF or DCS series rocks. Without the study, you'll just end up with anothe action game like HAWX or Jetfighter.
Dynamic campaign or random mission builder does not matter, as I like flying, not spending time with strategics.
Enemy AI is of importance to the sim. No "wall of mig's" an so on.
Could be fun to take the world map of FSX, and decide ourselfs where to have a war. Yes would be complicated I know.
Fictional or historical, who cares.

More immersive battlefield animations....Indepth career mode...RPG elements....somehow implement a squadron personality...so when Joe Bloggs goes down you actually give a damn....if say a B17 sim then give your crew members a personality through RPG elements...so if your rear gunner is hit you really care whether he holds on or not, as he was a killer shot and had a wife and kids etc...a new member would need to gain experience before you could truely count on them...

How about a British based flight sim? For naval we could have 70's era carrier ops, maybe on the Ark Royal, flying Buccaneers, Phantoms, Vampires etc.

Cold war RAF ops - V Bombers, canberras, TSR2 (fictional obviously).

Than again an F-14 study sim would be great, never been done (apart from Fleet defender, which I don't count as it's so old) and would undoubtedly be popular. Perhaps set in Afghanistan, so we could have A2G as well as A2A and maybe even recon? Peeping Toms anyone?

I'd also like to see an accurate Blackbird sim, but how many people would be interested in just recon I'm not sure of..

The Liberation of Kuwait.

I dont feel the First & Second Guld Wars have yet been fully covered. Tornado, Harrier & Bucanneer from the British. Plus American planes for mass market appeal.

A Tornado based study sim would be great - but recognising the huge development effort & limited amrket of a study sim I would be happy with a Survey Sim at first maybe then refining over time towards a Study Sim.

F-35 JSF sim

Has it all - carrier ops, CTOL and STOVL ops (deployed on and off ship)

Plus - look at potential operators - US (USAF, USN, USMC), UK, Canada, Israel - plenty of opportunity for markings + hypothectical conflicts

The systems modelling/true capabilities I agree would be guesswork - but educated guesswork and we never bothered too much about exact AMRAAM ECCM in EF2000, TFX or Total Air War.

Plus - it would bring back a bit of the old F-117 'sneak in sneak out - generally avoid trouble' gameplay. You are not in an awesome kill-evertything F-22 - you are on an attack mission to avoid trouble and strike targets. Threading your way between SAM threat rings.

Since the F-35 is meant to be the F-16 replacement - that would give you a multirole type with lots of operators, for hypothetical (and possibly real) conflicts from 2012 onwards....

Hi all,

if what Oleg promised (drivable ground vehicles) comes true, my personal preference would be a study armored car and tank simulation smile which can be integrated with SoW (and later titles). I'll bet that it would be a viable economic proposition also.....

cheers

I do not really care who what where.

What everything sofar lacked was aircraft history. Each time you start a mission you get a spanking new aircraft with nothing wrong at all. I want something like what A2A do with their Accusim aircraft where the aircraft builts up a history while you using it. Abuse the engine and it will bite you somewhere down the line, things like that.

That will really rock! A good dynamic campaign will not hurt either :P

I have an idea - but it's a secret wink sh.... biggrin

Seriously though, Sauron:
I'd recommend using an existing engine. SoW:BoB will be out this year and an SDK will follow. Oleg is planning to allow licenses for commercial addon makers. You might also consider talking to 777/NeoQB - A civil flightsim spanning 1910-1925 would work very well on that engine (albeit long range flights would be difficult to model - but most aircraft were relatively short ranged anyway).

After that I'd like a version of Ef-2000 V3.0 - something which recreates features, feel, colouration and music. It would be very neat to have a flightsim that isn't arcadish (ie. it is still hard to get a kill and easy to get shot down), but which has simplified Flanker2.0 level avionics and where the developer isn't afraid to guess. My own tendency would be to add a Mig-1.44 as flyable (Soviet Eurofighter). I have a long list of desired Ef-2000 improvements from my V2.0 days.

I want some environment that looks real. I want the sky, clouds and ground to look real no matter how high or low I'm flying. I want to be able to fly in the Grand Canyon and get the crap scared out of me. I'm not that concerned if I'm flying in a F-22 or or P-38, I just want some killer views looking out the cockpit that don't look like a slide show or cartoon.

I want another F-22 sim with a dynamic campaign (that doesn't cheat like a #%&*$#). I've been in love with the Raptor since first seeing the YF-22 in the 80s.

What I'd like to see most of all is a realization of Spectrum Holobyte's "Electronic Battlefield," where you'll have real people flying everything from Raptors to Blackhawks, and driving everything from Abrams to Humvees (and enemy aircraft/vehicles too - AI won't be the norm.)

As far as which aircraft in particular I'd like to see, I've always been partial to all-weather strike and interdictors, so that means Tornado GR.x and F15E in the modern era, and A6, F111, and Su24 in the Cold War era.

It'll have to run on XP (including x64), along with Vista and W7. No single player mode, even flight training will be done in real time with "real" pilots. Maybe even incorporate some from the ground up flight training with T38s, T45s, and whatever trainers other nations use (it's not just going to be a US sim.) if you buy it in training, you're as dead as if an Su27 or S300 got you.

We'd probably need an alternate history to make it interesting - a world in which the Iron Curtain never came down, or with a resurgent Russia, or even one from the near future with China and/or India being military superpowers as well as economic. Or perhaps either/both of them aggressively pursing resources like Japan in the 1930s.

I'm envisioning potentially thousands of aircraft and tens of thousands of ground vehicles (don't know if it'll extend to individual riflemen), along with all the maintainers for aircraft, ground vehicles, and people. Get injured and go to the hospital. Broken vehicles are out of service til repaired, or condemned and stripped for parts to repair others. Lucky ground vehicle mechanics get to do repairs in the field, working in pouring rain or frigid cold under a camouflage net with a red-lens flashlight at night. smile
