Paved roads are looking less likely. There's a splattering of problems preventing their inclusion.
Cheers

I'm getting really interested in this.
On a simulation scale, where will it fall? DCS being a almost a 10, Il-2 a 5 and Thirdwire an 0... CH will be a study sim (DCS) rather than a survey sim (IL-2/Thirdwire sims). However, unlike the DCS series, it won't be a milspec sim. For that level of simulation we would need to be contracted by the military. Our Flight Engine (FFD: Free Flight Dynamics) will be comparable to the flight engine in DCS:Black Shark. The remaining simulation aspects should meet or exceed the levels attained by Longbow 2. Cheers

Wasn't LB2 contracted ? --- or at least license agreements made ? .

LB2 was before my time, but I've heard good things about it. In terms of pure simulation, DCS probably go a bit far for my my needs- I have the manual for BS, and worth every penny, but a good third of it I'll never require. It looks like you're putting effort into immersion, which is just as important- every switch can work, but 'feel' is as necessary as function- still a lot of people comparing RoF unfavourably to Red Baron. Only one question left... WHEN! WHEN! WHEN!

I'm not aware of the Army contracting Origin to build LB2 as a training tool. As far as I know it was built purely as an entertainment product. Will this sim have a scenario editor or mission builder tool? Eventually, we don't have the resources to devote time to making a nice friendly external editor although you're probably thinking about other sims that have editors that sit "outside" the simulation to make missions. Combat Helo doesn't work like that. You'll be able to do mission planning and assignments in the command tent without leaving the game. If you want to line up a bunch of assets in a corner of the map for your own scenarios then that will be easy to do, but it will turn off the campaign engine from that point. The reason being, it won't know how to deal with whatever you might want to place, or break some of the node occupation rules. I don't know. If there's a way to have ones cake and eat it then we'll obviously do that. We have plans to expand the area of mission building in a later add-on (probably with the CH47).

EA had the license and owned Origin at the time. I don't believe they licensed the name but I remember some headaches regarding such things at the time. If they did there should be some brand or something on the box or at least in the manual. For JF-15 (and later for JF/A-18) I seem to remember that since we were a US company and the aircraft was paid for with US tax dollars that the look, the "F-15E" ID and a bunch of other stuff was in the public domain. "Strike Eagle" not being an officially tied into things I think was more problematic. Of course EA having an impressive legal team didn't hurt since they could stand up for a lengthy court battle. If you don't have the resources, even if you're in the right, you can lose to attrition. Of course I'm not a lawyer and this was a long time ago so my limited details could be in error or things could have changed over time. Yes, it was built as a purely entertainment product. I don't know if anyone tried to use it for more than that after the fact. JF/A-18 was the same thing but I heard at one point the RAAF was looking at possibly using it for some sort of training and someone in the forums said they used it for something like basic systems familiarization. Part of the Jane's deal is that it gave us access to all their books and I think we were able to bump ideas off of their experts as well, particularly regarding campaigns. Elf

Note #34 Not really much to say other than I've been testing various smoothing filter settings to remove sharp bumps and terracing from the terrain. I've also been looking at different terrain texture tiling slope angles to get in some extra variation. A very odd area north of Herat city. The endless sea of sand and rock. Another super micro sized greenzone. Lots and lots of these added with hundreds more to add. The road to Herat. Need to add a couple of mosques to this village. To the left, a new town, to the right, a greenzone, in the middle, not much of anything. The new, yet to be named town. And a little industrial center leading off from the town. Cheers

Is that a Tornado I see through the concertina wire two pictures above?
