I made this basic model of a Gloster Gladiator quite a while ago now as a learning exercise and wondered if I can add it, when finished, as an object on one of the airfields.
How easy it is to add models to BOB 2? Is there a dummies proof guide somewhere? I couldn't seem to find one anywhere. Thanks.

In a hurry, will get back later. We have an SDk that I will send to you.
Some questions:
What modeller do you use? If not Max or Blender, what formats does it output into?
How many polys does it have?
Is it UV mapped?
Are you on Skype?

But the quick answer is yes, we can use models from basically any modelling program and convert them into BoBII. Unfortunately we are quite limited about adding new planes, although we do hope and think we will overcome this.

Well, the plane in question was modelled in Anim8or which can export to .3ds or .obj, but I now do all my modelling in Blender.
It has 2121 polys and is not as yet UV mapped.
To be honest I'd never heard of Skype before today, so the answer to that is no.
If you want the file in whatever format you're quite welcome to it to play around with, it was something I just put together for fun and wondered if I could make use of it in BOB2.

Hi Puffin, the BDG is always interested in new models of 1940 A/C in the BOB.

You might want to explore this a bit over at the A2A forum. You could hook up with one of our Bender modellers , Geoff. He just finished the Tiger Moth and it is in Game in 2.09.

Ok, I suggest as first thing you install Skype and PM me your Id. Its what all the developers use.
We can certainly use someone additional that is able to convert 3D models.

Hi Puffin

Very nice looking model, it would look good in Bob2 once you have added a texture. Maybe as an introduction to the process you could try to make the plane a static model for populating some RAF airfields.

Have a look at this thread on the A2A forum

http://a2asimulations.com/forum/viewtopi...=a&start=60

On page 5 there is a link to the SDK file, and also there are 2 hefty tutorial video downloads that show how to import a simple house model into the game. Hopefully if you have broadband it is manageable download size.

Watching a tutorial vid, I usually find quicker and more informative than reading manuals.

The first video is rather specific to Blender, the second video shows more how to get the model into game.

regards Geoff

Thanks GeoffW, that's just what I needed. I'll work on the texturing asap, although I'm a complete noob when it comes to skinning aircraft.

Actually it might be better to start with something simpler like a rectangular house to learn the complete process (UV mapping, converting into game) first.
