If there is anyone out there who can do programming or 3D moddeling, has some free time and would like to contribute to a fading community, please come forward. The game in question is Jane's Longbow 2, there is a great desire to improve and mod this sim, but we can't find anyone willing to give it a shot.

I ask on behalf on the whole LB2 community here.

I apologise in advance for intruding on your forum and trying to snatch your talented modders away.

Thanks,
Flyboy

It's hard to do much programming without access to the source code. It is possible to hex edit the binary, but it's very limited how much you can do that way, and it's EXTREMELY labour intensive.

If you can get Janes (or whoever owns the source code now) to release the source code then I might have a look. But otherwise it's probably much easier to implement whatever LB2 does better into EECH (which I claim to already have done quite a bit of work on) than to try and hex-edit the binary of LB2 into anything resembling a modern sim.

Yeah, packing the good stuff from LB2 into EECH's AH-64 would be sweet and would tie both communities around one game :]

AFAIK LB/LB2 was already near perfection when I still played it.
Getting that sim into the 21st century (DX9 capable, WS, Hires ...) might be a task for the "Skunkworks" team itself (if it were still around).
EEAH/EECH and EECH2 OTOH, and thus I fully agree with the people having answered already, might indeed be a way to honor the memory of the incredible Longbow series.

Once Arneh finishes his remodeled Longbow, the first brick will be laid towards LB3 i think. LB2 ai was far more challenging than eech though, perhaps that could see some input at a later date. I'll be more that gratefull though just to get in the pilot seat of the remodeled LB when its complete.

No pressure Arneh but Christmas is only 6 weeks away ;\)
