Getting back into Jane's F15 and struggling with the laser designator.
Refining a radar marked target or designating with the laser pod alone it seems (unlike Jane's F18) to remain in snowplough; and trying to mark a target accurately in snowplough mode is nigh impossible.Any tips gratefully received ?

Sadly, the TGT IR in F-15 did NOT have a Ground Stabilized mode. Was my pet peeve from the get go...and once implemented in F/A-18, it was hard to go back to F-15. The only workaround was to break immersion and PAUSE the sim, which allowed you to fine tune the TGT IR without the SNOWPLOW mode ruining things.

Only real non-cheat workaround was to really concentrate on a good HRM and manage to reset the TGT precisely enough so that slaving the TGT IR to the TGT point was enough..

Back in the DAY, Starbuck wrote a Training mission with a method to accomplish this without pausing... I have not flown it recently, so I cannot comment, but here it is if you want to try it...

Thanks for the informative reply. Glad it wasn't just me having a problem.
Starbucks method is a reasonable workaround

I flew Starbuck's mission last night. I didn't remember that it was pretty similar to the HRM desgination method I was using, but when I was doing it, I must not have had the FLIR in the right state (CDES?) to constantly update when the HRM target was changed. I was manually changing the FLIR tracking point to the new designation which wasn't as easy or as elegant as the one that Starbuck showed.
