i dunno, i guess i've just seen bad things happen to those on it and those around it in the past to make the thought of making it as legal it just daft as hell, its also effectively saying its "ok" to smoke it, when lets face it, its not nice stuff and really f***s you up.
Sorry but except for EXTREME usage you are wrong. You really have to be smoking hard and constantly for years to end up being "Tommy Chong" as depicted in his movies.
I can 99.9% guarantee you that if you saw terrible outcomes with smokers it wasn't the weed. There was more to the story than you knew or saw - most likely drugs, MUCH harder drugs.
Weed is far, far more mellow and harmless than even beer (except for the lungs). As a "drug" (and in the 80's I tried almost all of them) I'd rank weed halfway between caffeine or nicotine and beer.
Start talking hard liquor, well that's probably a hundred times more of a drug than weed...
