If this said something: Q - The resistance with joystick movement is progressive? A -Yep

That cam-based gimbal might be the sexiest piece of hardware I've seen in a while. I'm not unhappy with my extended Warthog at all, but I'll get the stick just for that cam and swap handles. Probably wait for the Gunfighter, though, unless my 'hog gimbal starts giving me problems.
Y'all would sell a LOT of hardware if you could make that base/gimbal available for sale as a 'hog upgrade kit.
One question: with the Mamba III and Warthog adapter, do you get all of the hats/switches/buttons on the 'hog flightstick in Windows as DX buttons? I don't use Target so as long as they're all available for assignment I'm good.
Hardware: Asus Sabertooth Z87 - Intel 4670K @ 4.4 - 16GB RAM - EVGA Titan - Old Asus 26" 19x12 LCD - bunch of drives.
Sim Toys: Warthog - 8cm Simpit Hog extension - TIR5 - CH Quadrant - Slaw Device rudder pedals - Obutto R3v

Capt_Hook Yes, all Warthog buttons will work as DX buttons and if you want can be programmed to send key press, macros... through VKB Config software, a very capable mapper that store settings in controller EEPROM (dont need software running in Windows, in background), but maybe a bit more "obscure" than others. BTW - Is said that can buy from VKB only their base and - if want - the extension, for use with Warthog grip, no need buy the entire joystick. In that case mail their sales.

As the wise old man used to say: There's no mechanical device 100% dumb proof. A guy in that eternal Quest for "realist" joystick feel manage to bend the VKB CAM gimbal (Alloy 606l, stainless steel, bearings...) playing with Warthog heavy (~900grs) grip, extension (20cm) and 2 coils per axis: Probable the bearings - ball type? - did not support the excessive pressure... BTW - Mamba cover.

Not clear, but seems deformation in bearing. Hey Sokel, any updates on exactly what failed here? I have a hard time imagining one of the cams bent but without bending the 4mm screw loaded in shear with the cam bearing, and don't see what kind of deformation to the carriage where the main bearing is pressed although the gouge on top suggests some kind of collision. Either the case, this was a situation I predicted long ago, and the gimbals I'm making for Warthog and extensions have provisions for centering mechanisms on both sides since the MX sensor is centrally located, freeing up the both sides of the gimbals. It was predictable the max tension permissible with a single mechanism would not be high enough for a high mass grip with an extension so long as mechanisms are compact enough to fit in small enclosures.

It has nothing to do with the weight of the grip or the strength of the bearing. Those bearings can take over a 1000N radial force I guess.
For me it looks like the red cage was bent over the bearing. (one can see the wear on the top edge) Probably it is the area where this part collides with the black plate`s edge to provide an end stop. Not a smart way if you ask me considering the long extension and the human nature;)
MM The mechanical stops on the y-axis are from the enlarged cylinder at the base of the shaft colliding with the carriage and you can see the small moon-sliver bite marks fore/aft of the slot it rides in, not ideal (chamfering the lower edge would really help) but not the source of the gouge above the bearing which remains a mystery. The stops in x-axis are much better thought out and have generous contacts where sizable blocks meet face to face rather than the corner of a cylinder digging in at an angle like the y-axis. Agreed those bearings are for much higher forces then can possibly be generated though and not likely a point of failure unless it's defective to begin with or was pressed in wrong. I'm genuinely curious as to what exactly failed and how though. The weight of a heavy grip makes the stock spring feel like a wet noodle, so inspires people to use higher tension to compensate same with an extension so it's not the grip or the extension directly causing a problem, but as I understand it's issues from the tension being increased beyond acceptable limits. As to my Warthog gimbals I haven't made any substantial progress on them in a while, it was a really weird semester at school for me and I made poor use of my machine shop access, although I have made a some progress and finally got my VKB MKIII gimbals to study for my cam version. I'll try to get a few new pics with the sensor in place on its printed bracket soon.

Probable result of this "incident" - why Gunfighter are delayed "Two weeks, be sure"™. "Gunfighter went to completion at that time (early 2016). The plan was to use general mechanics with Gladiator Pro, but eventually abandoned and became developed a Gunfighter mechanism for loading."
= New gimbal.
