My only real problem with the game right now as it stands is the whiteness of it all, I find it very hard to make out enough detail on the ground to see it properly. This might be my monitor whose menu controls are kinda wonky so adjusting brightness and contrast are problematic. I'd love a practice map with some greens on it to break it up, but it is what it is. So far that's my only negative and it's not really a negative, I'll have to live with it for a while. I dont think you will see anything green for a long time. I do agree the whiteness can kill it after a while. The retextured Stalingrad map made for il246 is much better imo, as far as "dirty" and "gritty" goes. Wish BoS followed that direction. To break up the environment, get IL21946 and CLoD as well. Both are cheap and worth every penny. Yep, have both of them along with pretty much every other sim there is, I just imagine winter looking a little more muddy and brown with some greens here and there rather than monochromatic but, I understand that at this point it saves on rendering and FPS. Rise of Flight has nice winter textures but you also tend to fly lower and slower.

Unfortunately for the hard core simming crowd, the more hardcore a sim is, the smaller market, and profit it generates. Options are the key to success, and still provide features for the more hardcore simmers. WT is a decent sim, but my eyes glaze over when it uses Lions and Tigers to advance to newer aircraft. BOS isn't as bad, atleast you can fly most of the aircraft, and just grind for a few aircraft accessories. I prefer the COD's business model, but that business model has become too expensive to work. A modified DCS World business model may be the best. Either way I've supported them all. Whatever our preference, for most of us the price is too ridiculously cheap, not too.

Remember old il-2 when we payed for whole expansion and not for single planes?..... good times..... Combat flight sims have become too complex and costly for the old IL-2 business model of just paying for whole expansions. I think the model of paying for intermittent complex aircraft, and maps might better sustain a development with more regular pay days, instead of one every few years.

I would think most are on board for the new model of pricing if there is a flight sim when all is said and done. I'm not spending anymore for the arcade elements that are now in place. If my $100 wasn't enough to help get us there to a worthy IL-2 type flight sim…then I guess I'm out of this one. I don't believe in the montra that we should keep shoveling money their way and maybe…just maybe they will make a sim out of it someday.

I think the Russian team may react to the response from the community however. They can't do it instantaneously of course, but they'd be fools not to change course a bit. I'm giving it time. I can live with the unlocks for now.

Yes. It isn't perfect but it is good and it is the best next gen WWII sim release of the past 10 years. The grphics are good.. the FMs are good.. the DMs are good.. it has a lot of potential. The development team while they have made some questionable decisions.. they are a good team that has a plan and tries to stick to it. I can sorta agree with your enthusiasm it does look sweet but I'd compare it to the box top art on a model kit, looks cool and the parts look good so there is that potential of a great build or you can get careless and muck it up.
