I thought the complaint was the FMs are NOT getting changed to be more accurate according to *insert anecdotal evidence here*.
First I've heard of FMs being adjusted downward.

They have not made any significant FM changes in a long time. I am not sure if you are flying offline or on a relaxed server but on a HC server the camel is a PITA to fly.

Master,
I only fly off line. I don't know what an HC server is yet. I will find out and try that.

HotTom,
I should be a better pilot on the Albatros because that is what I usually fly. But, I remember the Camel being a lot harder to turn left than right than is is for me now. I will try the Dr1 and some of the other rotaries to see if they are any different than I remember.

some of the new features being added in pwcg, should boost activity and interest, for a while anyway.

HC is just Hardcore. It is a server with the settings set to the most realistic possible except warmed up engines.

If you are just flying offline then make sure your flight model is set to not-relaxed and you should be good to go.

The DR.I and the Camel are the toughest scouts to fly IMHO.

The Nieuport 28 is ok as long as you don't have to turn much. smile

If you keep your speed up the DrI and Camel are about equally tough. Get your speed low and the DrI goes into "hover mode" and becomes far harder! eek

OK, maybe I am a better pilot than I was when ROF first came out and I was trying to learn its flight models. Apparently some of the general flying skills I have developed on the Albatros have carried over to the Camel. I'm sure it also helps that I have much better HOTAS tools now than I did back then.

When I fly the Camel in my usual Duel with an AI opponent, not just "test" flying in circles, I can stall and spin when my speed drops and I pull too hard.

I take back my criticism of the physics model.

I still play RoF. This isn't the main forum for it either, and with SimHQ's issues of speed the past few months I've stopped coming to this site in general for anything.

I'm playing rof as the only game I play, but it needs to be improved and I think modders can help, to push this game to 11-11-2018.
Eye candy as a sample, is rather old to get new [=needed] members.

I play single player offline...the other 2 titles are much better for that, hate to say it, but so true - though Pat Wilson is working very hard to make ROF single player decent.

Go (also) online. Quite different world.
Even in FC server you can have a lot of fun and make many new friends.

RoF has been and will continue to be one of the most beatiful flight simulations ever made. But it suffers from an aging customer base and limited resources to keep things fresh. Threads like this highlight the problem. Customers want conflicting improvements. Others criticize just because they can, usually with zero technical background to back up whatever has them piqued. There are few solutions beyond just walking away like Oleg did or charging people over and over for the same product like Matt does. Furthermore, the FTP model has trained us all to believe the product should be free. This is how unfair we are. We gladly pay $60 for Call of Duty (insert number here), a game backed by a billion dollar corporate monster that the average player piddles with for a month before tossing in the old games bin. Yet we cry like kittens when we start to get bored with a free flight simulator that we have been playing since "W" was president.

Well, speak for yourself! Last CoD I bought was a CoD bundle on sale on Steam that included all the CoDs from 1 to WaW for like $17. It was incidentally the FIRST time I bought them, too! After the disappointment with CoD4 and WaW being so short I never bought one again. smile

Anyway, I've spent quite a lot of money on ROF and TK's SF series with their multiple pay addons, and I've got no issue with that model as it can work.

I do find it funny that flight simmers HATE paying for software, even $10 here and there for a DLC let alone a full-priced sim every few years (no no, the sim has to be good for 5 years minimum!), but will sink hundreds into HOTAS, MFDs, cockpits, and other hardware.

It's like you'll buy a $100,000 car and then search around for the cheapest gas you can find and stretch the oil changes out to 15,000 miles to save money.

I spend far more on software in a year than hardware unless it's a rare year where I've upgraded my CPU, mobo, RAM, and video card in the same period.

I've always been amused by that as well. It seems that, when it comes to computer gaming, flight simmers are the biggest cheapskates.

I posted something similar the other year when people were moaning about the RoF pricing model.

2000 PC and screen, 300 rudder pedals, 200 stick, TIR, Wireless headset etc. etc.

The cost of software to play on that is a drop in the ocean. Buying a new plane once in a while for the cost of a Starbucks is nothing smile

For some people, money is tight. I get that. I was out of work for 18 months and my wife for a year, at the same time, and I bought no hardware and barely bought anything but a DLC here or there. So my big hardware purchases were in the past.

But to see people talking about their new SSD or MFD in one forum and whining about nickels and dimes for the sim producer in another is just hypocritical. To buy just new ink cartridges for my printer costs the same as a game! Game prices are relatively low, considering I spent $60 for F-19 in 1989, when $60 was a lot of money!

"I spent $10,000 on a new kitchen, but I'm sick of paying more than $5/lb for pork!! I buy my food at the thrift store!"

"W" was president in 2009? Really??? Wow! jawdrop

Hole, you really need to try to keep up with the news. This just in: Obama was elected in 2008. RoF appeared in mid(ish) 2009. screwy

Noted.

"W" was president in 2009 until BO was inaugurated January 20.
