I've read that there have been alot of fixes since release and wondered how the game is now.

I really would like to get this, I really enjoyed the other Simcities, and would like opinions from those in our community who have had it since release and have stuck with it.

My kid really wants this game. But as far I know - that being what I've read on this site - it still doesn't work properly.

Question everything!

I don't have the game, but a lot of people online have been saying that the 2.0 update actually created a lot more bugs.

I refuse to buy a flight sim that I have no interest in playing, on the off chance that MAYBE someday they'll make the one I really want to play.

Just do a quick search using key phrases like "Simcity still broken" and the news stories are coming out even this one from Thursday on the new patch. Simcity still broken

I just seen a game that is in Alpha called Banished and looks really good. http://www.shiningrocksoftware.com/

What I usually do is keep track of the sentiment in the official forums and of the reviews in amazon. Assuming they're not running the forums under dictatorship. I wanted to buy Diablo III and this Simcity game. I still check from time to time if maybe things have changed enough for me to reconsider them.

On Simcity, there are many recent amazon reviews to go through. The official forum has a thread on whether patch 2.0 is better or worse plus a bug thread report. Forum seems more mature than Diablo III.

From what I hear don't touch it with a barge pole. EA really screwed this one up.

Customers want larger cities and no forced Online crap.

EA is standing firm saying "NO", online is required, blahdy blahdy blahdy. (when it's already been modded to be offline)

I've been reading about a memory leak in Cities XL. Is that an issue with you, Skate? I watched some You Tube videos when you mentioned Cities XL in the other Sim City topic a few weeks ago. It looks pretty impressive and I'd like to get it when I upgrade my PC, but some complained of memory leak.

I won't touch an EA product, myself.

memory leak? no, Single Threaded overtasked, yes.

once city gets large enough it slows the entire thing down to a crawl because everything is on ONE SINGLE THREAD.

So a decent hyper-threaded PC should handle it fine? Good. I may just pick it up then. Thanks.

Sounds to me like it's not coded to handle multi-threading... at least that's the gist of what I got from what he said.

I read the first sentence and ignored the second one. Too anxious to play I guess, and I didn't read the response fully. Thanks for the correction, SD.

I recently came back to it and it still sucks. It is fun but pointless

It even bogs down when I engage my 5.5Ghz Overclock Profile (disable 3 of 4 modules and have 2 cores running at 5.5Ghz).

CitiesXL has been in a bad need to be re-coded to Multi-Threaded environments for the least 4 releases.

I got 2011, 2012 and Platinum for like $3 each on the sales, so i can really argue.
