Did any fellow Floridians or any out of towners go this year? Just got back and it was great as usual. Weather held up so nothing got cancelled.
I didn't bring my camera because I might go again tomorrow but I'll try to get the ones I took with my sister's digital camera. Always a priviledge to see a flying B-17 being escorted by a Mustang. I also got to see my first flying A-4 Skyhawk which was a thrill for me. I've only ever seen static displays.
Plus it was nice seeing the Thunderbirds one last time. I saw them only one other time in Daytona back in like 1997.
I saw some pics from some guys that were there, looks like weather was great for it. Not did they have an A-4 which is rare, I saw some pics of the F-104 Starfighter which is also very rare. I've seen a good amount of A-4s fly, the ANG base near where I grew up flew them before they transitioned to A-10s back in the early 90s.

I'm confused about the A-4 reference. I thought the Skyhawk was a Navy/Marine aircraft in US service. How could a unit transition to A-10's which are an Airforce aircraft?
Strange indeed. A little searching shows that two A4D-2N's were modified for US Army trials, and flew for two-three months with the army as part of a CAS-evaluation program, but I can't find ANY references of the air force ever operating them.
Working on it Jim. I only have a few taken with a little digital camera as I did not bring my own. I don't have pictures of the Thunderbirds unfortunately as I was holding my nephew on my shoulders.
Okay here's some pictures. Not the best quality but the main goal of the day was to enjoy the show with my sister, nephews, and brother-in-law.
By the way, they had Cobra rides!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That thing was so stinkin' cool to watch give people rides. I'd probably splurge and do it next year. $475 for 15 minutes. I think it would be worth it. I watched as the pilot would do a high speed pass off the runway, stop, fly backwards, hover and land.
Huey rides were $60 for ten minutes and I'd also love that but man a cobra ride.....how awesome that would be.
Good pictures. Doesn't the nose of the Tomcat look quite low? The only F-14 I've been close to is the one on the Intrepid Museum in New York. My recollection was that it was much higher.
That A-4 came in to Oceana last year but we were show right on Sat and he never made any passes because of the weather. Straight in landing and just taxied up to us and back the other way. So ticked...
