Arrgh, just got home, I went out early to Microcenter so I would be first one in and then back home in time for the race. The last time I went out there on a Sunday the hours were 10-5 but now they are 11-6 so I missed the race, sorry guys. Of course on top of that I spent way more money then I planned Thanks Doug and SimHQ and I will see everyone on the track soon. edit: besides what I went to Microcenter for I also bought 2 very nice looking external HD enclosures for some extra internal SATA drives I have and as I just now sat down to install them I opened 'em up and saw . . . the ol' IDE connector, DOH! I bought the wrong ones lol.

Congratulations to Pumbaa for winning the event at PaulRicard!
For the final event in the series next Sunday, we will be limiting the running to BMW 320s. Pending the results of the track poll, we will run Old Ring or Nordschleife's Late 70s version by Darren. Both are loaded up and running on the SimHQ Motorsports server. There is a new password for the series, and that is included in the Teamspeak info window for the series. If you cannot connect to the server without error, send me a PM and I'll provide the links to the track files.

I was just happy to have finished the hour long race! I thought the 935 would be a little more competitive, but the M1s and even the Celica were very fast today. I was just going to take it easy for as long as I could stand it, and that became very easy when the front 4 left me in their dust. Then I saw henny pit early so I stretched out my pace a bit for a few more laps until I decided to pit. I didn't take tires but the stop was still 24 seconds...I forgot to adjust the fuel back. I was clicking away 19's and 20's so I thought as soon as the others pitted I'd be right back up with them. Nope, they were running 17's and 18's. Near the end I thought in my head that I was near the lead pack, but at the end I was a lap down. Just finishing this with my car scratch free (maybe two small offs but didn't hit anything) was cool for me. In most of the practice races I usually wrecked out, or became frustrated after a few spins and gave up. Today I ran it like I owned it and took care of it. I really like Doug's idea of having just a BMW 320 race. There is so much difference in these cars that if you stick with what you like then sometimes you're dealt a losing hand because the track doesn't favor your car. I thought this track favored the Porsche, but pushing as hard as I could I was still a second or two off of the M1s, and the Celica today driven by Darren. The 320 is a great little car that handles very well, although it's not the fastest. We ran a couple little practices in the 320s at Nord and Old Ring and they are a blast. I absolutely HATE the Nord, but it's actually quite fun in the 320! 160 turns, and I made it through a few times!

Race report..
During the practices and running the different cars I had found a line that works for me around this course, finally after all the races we've had here lol... But what made the final difference was Purolator's set up, thanks again that gave me 0.7s...
Qualy was a tough duel for the first half where DB and I where trading fastest laps, and by tenths at a time, until he popped in a 16.8 which I though I had on the cards but I just couldn't find the time and ended up with a slower time than my PB with full fuel...
The race start didn't go as expected as DB had trouble seeing the lights but the combination of his Celica's brakes and my crap gear change into 2nd meant he was nicely alongside at T1 and had the line into T2 onto the back stretch... Knowing that he'd creep away from me after the sweeper at the end of the straight, I knew I had to pull in behind grab the toe and use it into the sweeper, and then try and hold him off until the straight came back... I'm quite satisfied with my move there, I've never been great at over taking on the fast bits... Now it was time to find a rhythm and push to see if I could stretch the lead to DB... We once again started trading lap times with either one of us posting a better lap time lap after lap keeping the gap constant at around 1-2 seconds, and amazing I matched DBs pole time of 1:16.8... DB ducked in early for his fuel stop, and thinking that might lull me into a slower pace I jumped in 2 laps later to make sure I kept my pace up... Almost botched pit in and pit out so I had to crawl down pit lane so I didn't get a stop go... DB must of had similar issues or put more fuel in than I as I came out the gap was at 4 seconds, but that was eroded very quickly as I got back into a rhythm... I could manage to keep the lines tight enough so that there wasn't a space after the sweeper for him to get by with his superior handling... He caught my toe at 1 point heading into the sweeper, and wasn't about 0.2s back when I turned in, I'm not sure what happened, because as I exited the sweeper I saw smoke in the rear view and DB on the inside sand... That gave me a 10 second buffer which I though might last me through the last portion of the race, only to find out that race still had over 20 minutes to go and my tyres had just started to go off... I thought "Ok find a rhythm that won't hurt the tyres, that Celica's left front will be dead at the races end" so I took it a little easy through some of the right handers to give the left front a break, which ultimately allowed DB to close in at around 0.7s per lap... Hoping he'd either be out of grip when he got there, or I'd have just enough to fight with I stuck to my guns and looked after the left front... As DB closed in I came across Birdski heading down the backsraight and I had to use his toe which gave me a little advantage which I almost threw away in the sweeper getting past him... I had a few offs at the sweeper over the following laps which allowed DB to catch right up and the battle was back on, and I was back into rear view mirror driving making sure I had my car placed in the right spot... A small mistake from DB gave me a breather with just over 5 minutes to go, but he closed back in and the last 3 laps were hairy, as I had just about ran out of tyres so braking was a slippery affair, and DB wasn't giving me any breathing space...
Awesome racing there DB, great comeback... I don't know how your tyres held up as well as they did...
Looking forward to this 320 race at the Nordschleife as the 320 is made for that track, especially that configuration of it... That little car is like a Skoda but more fun...

can you guys post some setups? I find these cars too difficult to drive in default settings... Maybe with goos setup I would survive a lap of The Ring hehe

Thanks, Pumba!
Which car is this one for? no worries, it's for the BMW 320 as I believe we are moving to 1 make for the final race due to lack of numbers in previous events...

This should be fun in the 320, I would probably have had to pit multiple times for damage repair in the Capri

Damage has been lowered to 10% for the event. Good idea, I already wanted to raise that point. There are at least three sections on this track where I always kiss the armco.
