Hi

I just saw it in 3D.

Pretty interesting one.

I really hope she will meet the 'creators' at the end in their home front with all that payload...

'Knock knock'

Yes it was interesting, I wonder why they wanted to obliterate us and then changed their minds?

Might make a good sequel where she meets our makers.

And man, that was the mother of all face huggers that got hold of the pilot, Kane had a smallish alien come out of him, that thing was almost fully grown!

That Farrow bloke you executed today, are you sure he's dead?
Well I chopped his head off, that usually does the trick.
Yes, don't get clever with me Baldrick. I just thought you might have lopped off a leg or something by mistake.
No, the thing I chopped off had a nose.

Over the hills and far away.
The Xenomorph (or atleast an earlier version of them) that came out of the creator pilot at the end of the movie was an awesome looking creature me thinks!
First it showed its teeth, then it showed some extra mouth, awesome creature!

Yeah, if that was a queen, there will be eggs everywhere in no time!

So, do you think, in the first scene that we see a pilot, it kind of performs self immolation with that mercury like liquid and disentegrates into the waterfall, do you think that was supposed to be the creation of life on Earth?

Saw it last night, that guy on the waterfall was the source of life on Earth, yes. Why a race with that awesome technology would need to suicide to create us doesn't make sense, unless its part of a religious doctrine.
I thought that what they changed their minds about was letting us live, the only thing that stopped them killing us was getting slaughtered by their own 'weapons'.

As our "creators" was he there to make us or was it an unintended result of he dna floating away?

Whatever it was, they must have realized we happened because the cave paintings show us with them, pointing in to space.

How did David know that black liquid would kill Halloway?

So Dr Shaw is the mother of the xenomorphs?

I thought the movie was amazing. I saw it at midnight but will see it again at a normal time w/ my wife next week.

Definitely looking forward to the next one.

I was a little disappointed in the "under-utilization" of Charlize Theron. She did a great job playing a cold #%&*$# but, I wanted to know more about her. Wasted talent, imo.

Also, thank you Ridley Scott for handling the story in a professional manner, not pooping on your legacy and making me regret looking forward to this movie for a year now.

I hope it does very well.

I found my answer from Scott.

"Engineer" is not the most apt title.

- He did not know. His intention was not to kill. As was shown consistently, he is just very curious. Also, Wayland told him to find out what the stuff did (Try harder). David is not your typical Asimov's "three rules" robot.

-Different planet, this is not LV-426. Alien ship and eggs in LV-426 crashed there for thousands of years, so they are still there on LV-426 while the events in this movie transpire. If at all, we can see the Xenomorphs have to do with Engineer, and black stuff combination somehow. The human factor (plus all the contamination it got from the surgery chamber) makes them look different.

There indeed was an accident, but my guess is that they did not change their mind to wipe us out. The sole remaining Engineer was left there waiting for humans to be able to respond to the "invitation" they left on earth. Maybe space travel in that scale is the mark that signals that their creations have gone too far.

They know what their own nature is (violent, though have the genius to create life and travel the stars), so they know what to expect from their creations once they "mature".

Isn't it fun to speculate? biggrin

I got the impression that he was spiteful and willfully disobedient, like Ash was.

So the thing that burst from the engineer at the end was not a xenomorph queen?

Remember the mural of the crucified Queen? The Xenomorphs already existed and were known to the Engineers.

Also keep in mind that in Alien3 it was established the Xeno's tried to mimic the host. Same principle here. (Ridley did say he borrow that idea from Alien3).

Hence the "worms". Can't explain the Squidworth/facehugger monster though...

I found David to be curious like a child and to enjoy discovering new things, he also asked the scientist how far he'd go to find what he wanted before dipping the mercury stuff in his drink so I don't think he'd have poisoned him if he didn't think he'd risk death for his discovery.

Wasn't that engineer the sole survivor after an accident? Wouldn't he have locked himself in the life pod in the hope one of his race would come along to rescue him? Also if they wanted to kill Earths life off, assuming they're like us with a main power, wouldn't they just send another ship to finish us off had they not changed thier minds?

Ok, one more, what kind of weapon is that stuff, I thought a good weapon would wipe life out so you could then step straight in, this seems to spawn life from death so you'd have to clean up after?

I like films that make me think!

I found David to be the most interesting character in the film by far. I really liked how he was fascinated by Lawrence of Arabia and his moral ambiguity gave his character some mystery.

Agreed. I wish all of the characters were as fleshed out, especially Charlize's.

Noomi Rapace is a GORGEOUS woman IMHO!
Beautiful bone structure in her face!
Also a bit the Ripley type of woman me thinks!
Theron is also gorgeous ofcourse, but I like women with nice cheekbones like Noomi Rapace.
I myself have thesame kind of cheekbones as Pete Postlethwaite. (no joke)

My best regards, Kodiak.

I happen to think that Charlize is just exquisitely fleshed out!

Also did not care for the gratuitous sex scene with the ship's captain. Totally unnecessary.

?? So how does the black liquid create a Xenomorph if they're already a fully formed species? If the goop creates Xenos, why did the biologist not have a chest explosion after the mutated worm did a force feeding on him?

I think I may have discovered a misdirection...

Here is a pic of the System LV 233 is in

Here is the ship's "star map" closer to the planetoid/moon:

Now, compare with the system where the Nostromo found LV 426

My take is that LV 233 and LV 426 belong to the same planetary system.

The only contradiction...

It was going to take Nostromo 10 months to get back to Earth (or at least the solar system) and Prometheus traveled for 2 years to get there.

Thoughts?

Is LV 233 really LV 426?
