F4U, how detailed are you going ?

Someday your life will flash in front of your eyes. Make sure it is worth watching.

F4U, how detailed are you going ? The designer did s good job of adding detail to the files so I'll go pretty much as designed. In the picture below the only main difference I plan is to add stanchions and cables around the deck edges as hand rails ![[Linked Image]](https://img-new.cgtrader.com/items/2396873/f1e2aa1c04/1-72-fletcher-class-destroyer-rc-model-3d-model-f1e2aa1c04.jpg)

I was using body filler putty to fill the seams between sections right from the tube, smeared on with my finger. It worked fine but then I had to wait hours for it to harden before sanding. I'm now trying a different technique, cutting the putty 50/50 with acetone and brushing on thin layers. It dries in minutes ready for another layer. You can also spot the low/high spots easily with this method and after several layers you still have less overall buildup so less sanding. You can do several seams one after another and when you get to the last the first is ready for another go already.

Can you use any kind of power sander, or does it all have to be done by hand? I've thus far only done it by hand because I'm learning. I probably could have used my detail sander on the hull but all of the superstructure etc. is definitely going to be by hand just because of the size and shape of the various parts..
