I hear ya Ice! Not to mention people who post to everyone but when you reply, you get the feeling it was an "inside" post meant for just a select few people. They need to let people form groups so they can post exclusively. Family things to family, work things with co-workers, friends for those posts etc, unseen by others. My policy now is that I don't "like" anything. Either it's worth text or it isn't.
I have only family and long term friends on my list, but even with those people you often get TMI. There's also a generational difference. Younger people post FAR more, but refuse to acknowledge comments, older people converse. I can't IMAGINE posting pictures of my kids while they were babies and every detail of life online. It just isn't safe. We had the internet when my kids were born, but the SOP was that you didn't put info online much less pictures.

My pet hate: Friend 1: My life sucks!! Had the worst day ever! Friend 2: Sorry to hear that! What happened? Friend 1: It's too personal to post, sorry. Friend 3: OMG! So sorry for you! You OK? Friend 1: I'll tell you all about it on DM (direct message, like PMs) If I was Friend 2, I'd un-friend Friend 1 straight away after a conversation like that. I've also un-followed quite a few people because their life is so perfect!!! --- on Facebook. I know for a fact that they're struggling in real life. One is a couple that is contemplating divorce, but you'll never know it if you looked at their Facebook posts. I am absolutely vicious to people who post even more vague stuff than that, as if we're supposed to know what they mean. Them: "I just can't believe it!" Me: "I know, right? How can the super big Moon Pie be sort of yucky, but the regular ones are perfect and the mini ones nearly as awesome? I guess one CAN have too much of a good thing!" Them: "Enough." Me: "Exactly. It's coming out over the top and spilling down the sides. Stop pouring!"

The opinions of this poster are largely based on facts and portray a possible version of the actual events. More dumb stuff at http://www.darts-page.comFrom Laser: "The forum is the place where combat (real time) flight simulator fans come to play turn based strategy combat."

I've noticed among family and friends, that having children can drastically change a person (and most would agree for the better). I know people, like myself, that weren't religious at all...until they had kids. They also became more introverted and private. I'm sure if I had kids I wouldn't post some of the stuff I do (it would be kind of creepy). It's the life I've chosen with my circumstances and I make the most of it with no regrets, but I can acknowledge there's a level of maturity I'll likely never attain, sometimes forced upon a person when they become parents.

I've actually been posting more on FB than SimHQ for the past couple of months. That's something I thought would never happen. Pretty hard to post much when you come back after 24 hours and there are less than twenty posts in the Active Threads list after the ones you made the day before. Wheels

I just might take a page out of Dart's strategy book, but even if fun, I just can't make myself make the effort on Facebook. My FB page was just created so that I could "gift" some stuff to the wife's Farmville account. I didn't even have to do this myself; she'd log onto my FB account and do it! Before that, I had a Friendster account, that one was made so I could wish her a "happy birthday" from my Friendster account for all to see, nevermind that I greeted her that very same day and given her flowers. Nope, the internet had to see that I've done it on Friendster as well. Women.

Thread had me thinking... It's not that I want to go back to 2003, but I do miss all the activity on the many flight sim boards, especially when the classics were still popular. Going back even further, I miss the late-80's to early-90's when military aircraft were such a hot item (4th gen. still very modern and 5th gen. so futuristic). If SimHQ ever disappears (or updates their forum software to something that sucks), so will my online presence. It's just not in me to start again somewhere else, the idea has no appeal to me. I'll retire from the virtual universe and become an even more out-of-touch offline hermit.

The video of this song is cool, it's got William Shatner and Jason Alexander. They're also in his video for "Celebrity" (song about being obnoxious when you're famous, just because you can be). EDIT: For famous people in a Brad Paisley video, my favorite is "Waitin' On A Woman" with Andy Griffith (old man giving him marital advice).

I wonder what Jason Alexander is doing these days? I haven't seen him in anything in years. He has had a couple of attempts at series work in the last 5 years but most of his work has been one off guest spots. Wheels
