So today I go on ED forum and find this message: You have been banned for the following reason: 1.10 product feedback 24hrs 20%
Date the ban will be lifted: 08-06-2016, 11:00 AM I did not even log in to ED forum for a few days. The whole explanation makes no sense. What did I do? Reporting a control assignment bug now gets you banned? Cause that was my last post there. About two weeks ago.

Yep that will do it alright, report a defect or problem in ED perfect software = Ban hammer
It is beyond retarded how bad the "moderation" is over there
You see there are other properly run software companies that have these things called bug lists So if for example you find a problem, you could check the list and see if it was reported .. .and check status:
Reported - work in progress to fix Reported - scheduled to be fixed - eta date given Fixed in next release etc etc
That way people wouldn't waste time reporting already reported bugs ..........
But that would be far too sensible for the twats at ED to do
You are expected to magically "know" or spend ages trawling thru forum searches to work out if problem has already been reported

Tell me about it, I work in software support and have been handling this end of things for the past 6 months. So they don't have a proper tool for reporting bugs and ticketing them with proper priorities, yet ban users for posting about stuff not working? To me this means DCS software is destined to be broken. Now why would I buy anything else from them again?

Oh Iam sure they do have a tool for reporting and ticketing bugs , they just dont allow us to see the list
Most likely reason is while bug 25,069 is the newest bug reported it would look bad that bug #12 is still open and not fixed
That might make them look: bad / incompetent / disorganised * not sure which one or all of the above would apply to ED

What's your username on EDForums and I'll look into it. Its a good job SimHQ exists because it does a great job of being second-line support to communicate with banned ED message board users. 'Robust' certainly doesn't extend to ED's communication chain.

Telling MS to have a Middle finger falls within 1.1 and 1.10, which falls under the 20% Warning and 1 day suspension

Hey I've got a great idea! Let's put the moderators in charge of software development, and ed devs in place of the moderators. While ED are slow and sluggish at addressing bugs, the mods are UNBELIEVABLY efficient and precise at banning people. If they were developing DCS with the same efficienty at which they ban people, we could actually see a dynamic campaign in the next month or so Just kidding :P

I have brought up a couple of my opinions of the 109 with no bad reaction from the mods...I think its fine with them for us to voice our concerns, just be respectful and offer supportive proofs to your points if possible

you were suspended because the post was abusive (middle finger comment) and not constructive.

that's the thing, most of the time they arent "Bans", they are posting rights suspended for 24 hours, 1 week, 30 days etc.
Perm. Bans are an entirely different story.
ED is a Business Managed and Operated Forum, not a Community Managed and Operated Forum w/ slack free for all style rules.
if you wanna shoot fingers at MS and Be sarcastic about DRM etc doing it on a community forum is prolly the best option.

SZ, noticed a new phrase > temporary banned. No red + either. What does this mean?
There was only 16 squadrons of RAF fighters that used 100 octane during the BoB. The Fw190A could not fly with the outer cannon removed. There was no Fw190A-8s flying with the JGs in 1945.

means their ban has a countdown, and is not perm.
Essentially, a Time Out, length of said Timeout depends on previous infractions and severity of the last one.

So why not seeing this for example with 1 day or 1 week bans?

Hmmm... One of ED's mods, who constantly deletes posts, locks threads, bans users, is posting here and justifying their actions. And SimHQ follows suit by deleting and moderating with big red letters, effectively helping them.
Even if the post is downright personal swearing and or attacks, a delete of the offensive words should be more than enough, while maintaining the original meaning of the post.
Mostly a lurker here nowadays but I feel something is just off. Mayhaps the internet isn't what it was nowadays.
And no, a community forum is usually non-profit, hence they actually are allowed to moderate the forum however they want. Say I'm in bad relationship with one of the "higher ups" then you can be banned for no other reason, because hey I am not a customer, I don't have rights and is essentially a free loader. If they don't like where a thread is going they can simply lock it. This is actually a shortcoming of the community forums, but that's just how it is. And I think it mostly depends on the ethos of the guy running the place like is an open discussion forum a good thing or is it just a sewer for flame wars etc etc etc. A forum for commercial products however, the company is paid to listen (or ignore) the #%&*$#' and moanin' of the customers, and the customers paid to have posting rights. Being transparent and open, is considered a good trait of commercial products. Or at least, that was the understanding of the community. If not, I think ppl need to revisit their consumer rights when dealing with certain companies, and should think twice about dealing with said ones.
