"They Flew Hurricanes" by Adrian Stewart. Documents the development of the Hurricane and it's role in WW2 from the pilot's point of view. Really well written, IMO. Not dry at all, but plenty of stats on the plane and it's combat record.

Revues and such at Amazon.

"Air Warfare In the Missile Age" by Lon Nordeen

Just when I was getting sick of reading how amazing the USN/USAF was in every jet/air war since the 60's, I found this book- which (while it still spends a lot of space on the US air combat history) goes into surprising detail on the Arab-Israeli and Indo-Pakistan Wars. Informational, entertaining, illustrated, and a bibliography to beat all bibliographies! I've seen enough Hawker Hunters at air shows, but to read how they were actually used? And what's a "Gnat"? It's one of the most effective air-to-air fighters ever conceived, that's what it is.

A definitive must read!
