very nice work from Feathered... http://riseofflight.com/Forum/viewtopic.php?f=278&t=33882IMHO this one should be implemented ASAP as it is more convincing than the one we have in the game now...

Can you post these pics in a vertical format.. some of us don't have massive monitors to fit them across the screen! +1 I do prefer the black oil. Oil seems to go black after only being in a car engine for a very short time so the current golden brown clear stuff just looks wrong. Although I seem to remember the original effect had a bit of a dark look and was rejected by the community for the golden syrup we have now. I'm not too sure about the round blotches though, as a microbiologist they look like colonies, as if something's growing on my monitor.

But when I said it looks moreconvincing I was thinking about the look of the stains....Sure, also I think the color is ok, just, it should be darker thats all....

On the windshield the affect is fine, but were talking about oil on your goggles right? surly the affect should be much larger dots and smears?

We should be able to wipe our goggles off

Dots should be larger but this effects is stil more convincing to me..than what we have now...maybe he needs to make dots and smears a bit bigger and darker. Also we really should be able to wipe off the goggles....

We should be able to wipe our goggles off +1 Not saying the wipe should return pre-damage clarity, but should significantly improve vision for a time. I would expect a slightly blurred view since wiping would not remove all the oil, only thin it down to a more even distribution on the lenses.

I've said this on the RoF forums.. before we make the oil on goggles effect harder to see through.. (I believe some people think that by making it harder to see, it's somehow more realistic). Which is of course madness.. If you were trying to land an aeroplane with a damaged engine and your goggles were getting plastered with oil, you would make an attempt to clear them off, or pull them off as you entered finals. Lets face it, you would want as clear a view as you could get, your life is at stake! We desperately need a 'wipe goggles' button..

I'm not so sure about this one. At least with the current version I can barely see where to land; from the screen shots above I don't think I'd be able to...
Also, is this version generated by post-effects? In other words, will the round spots pictured above move and smear like the in-game version. I'll follow link... NOT post-effects, but definitely better than the default as I remember it...
PS: Guys, most of you likely know, but one can always shut off the engine (hopefully within glide distance of your lines), and the oil will reduce after a time, but propeller must stop rotating/windmilling. That is attention to detail that I love from this sim!
