When you target an enemy on the tac, the plane stays targeted until you target something else. It will not show on the tac if it is out of the circle (or range) but it stays targeted, even if the plane is shot down or has landed. If you toggle through the views, you can see the enemy you targeted (player/target) by hitting "V".
