The GoT TV series starts diverting from books of A Song of Ice and Fire more and more as the series progresses, to the point where the last season and the current one are completely uncharted territory for book readers.

Keep in mind that although the major plot points remain more or less the same, characters will vary (even in appearance), events that happen in the books might not happen at all in the series and vice versa. Even some characters that have died in the show are still alive in the books.

So the message is, enjoy each medium for what it can offer, and the books will give you a lot of insight into the world, but do not fall into the easy trap of faulting the TV series for not following the books too strictly, as many of the readers did for the longest time during the first seasons of the series.

Not a trouble here Bib4...I've always enjoyed books and the shows they spawned and enjoy each for what they offer and don't do what the "purists" do and compare the two..they book is a gateway to the GOT world..Heck i read The Lord Of the Rings yearly and watch the movies I guess you could pick it apart but each medium is enjoyable on it's own...to me a book is just an introduction of the world portrayed in the show

Was Megan Leavey an independent film? I've never heard of it.

Re-watching Babylon 5 with my significant other. She's never seen it but it's probably my ninth or tenth re-watching of the whole series. Now that we're into Second Season (and Sheridan) she's really enjoying it a lot more. Sinclair is just too poor an actor to carry any weight I find.

We watched Valerian last night and it was simple and enjoyable fun.

Ever forward!

I think it's essentially a universal feeling among Babylon 5 fans that season 1 is the weakest. It had the most stand-alone episodes not written by JMS of any season and it shows. And like Lighthead mentioned, Michael O'Hare who played Sinclair was not very good but now we know why after the revelations from JMS after O'Hare's death.

Wow I had no idea until just now (having looked it up) as to the reasons for his departure. Thanks for the heads up!

Ever forward!

I'm watching all the Babylon5 and spinoffs as well. Just finished the Crusader series. Wasn't bad, and significantly better than the horrid Legend of the Rangers movie.
I only have a couple of the movies and the last 2 or 3 episodes of season 5 left.

I was hooked on season 1, but it really did get a whole lot better the second season.

What happened to "Crusade" was a huge tragedy. It was cancelled by TNT even before the first episode aired. The cast was quite good with Peter Woodward really stealing the show as the technomage G a l e n.

I'm probably a little late to the party but how good is Deadwood? It's awesome! I did notice a propensity towards swearing,I think every other word was f**k or c**ksucker. Ian McShane really lets rip.

I got 2 episodes of season 1 to go then I'll no doubt binge-watch the next 2 seasons. Hope they continue the greatness of the 1st season.

Le Mans: Racing is Everything on Amazon - enjoyable with some great camerawork and behind-the-scenes footage of the 2015 prep and race.

It felt a little sterile - a PR piece. I would have liked maybe a bit of attention on the others who make the race happen, like the marshalls, groundsmen, cleaners, caterers, and the fans. There weren't even any interviews with the LM24h administration as far as I remember.

But the 25 minute episodes made it easy to watch in chunks.

Film: Death Spa. hahahaha avoid at all costs. About the spirit of a dead sister who possesses her twin brother in order to kill everyone at a health spa. I suspect it was probably banned as a "video nasty" in the UK. Trashy 80s horror which doesn't stand up to the best of trashy 80s horror wink

You piqued my interest so I looked it up on IMDB. The only actor I recognize from the cast is the guy who played James Kirk's son (Dr. Marcus) in both Star Trek II and III.

haha I didn't recognise him until you mentioned it. The only one I knew was Brenda Bakke. She was in an episode of ST:TNG, lots of American Gothic episodes, and played Lana Turner in LA Confidential. She looks very different in Death Spa (and TNG) to her 90s incarnation. Oh and she was the "gratuitous beaver shot" girl in Hot Shots p2!

Finished all of Babylon 5 including all of the spin offs. Great show all around, though I didn't much care for the final couple of episodes.

Deadwood is great, I rewatch all of it every year or two. So many great characters and quotes. The cursing in that show was quite shocking the first time I watched it.

You didn't like the series finale "Sleeping in Light"? I'm just surprised since the finale is pretty much universally loved by fans.
