Good games and more to come shortly smile

The SPAW session that we flew after SAW was the best online game I have ever been in smile

That screenie does not really tell the whole story. After taking off from HMS Victorious, Trindade and I found the Kates, destroyed them, and attacked their escorts. At some stage one of them got me, but I was able to respawn.
Lolo was nowhere to be seen, but in fact he had been battling Hellcats over the Allied carriers with his Zeros. By the time we found him both our Corsairs had overheated badly, and with reduced power my game ended when I spun in. Then I switched to F9 and watched a long battle between Trindade and Lolo who had two AI Zeros in support. It lasted at least 15 minutes by which time the two AIs had gone down, leaving only Lolo. Sadly things came to a quick end when Trindade's engine really cooked and he did not have the power to climb from a relatively shallow dive.
We had another good game with Shogun included after we had recovered from that battle. There was some great flying by everone involved. Looking forward to another session next Sunday smile

It is nice to know that there are still a few of us left who enjoy flying EAW, and it would be great to see the many who only seem to be involved in "modding" actually playing the game, offline or on smile

wink Jel

Still flying now and again, mostly the BOB. Love making cross channel raids in my fast but delicate Whirlwind.

But I really just wanted to say that I'm particularly gratified to read about SPAW adventures as the MODSquad put a lot of effort into that scenario.

And don't forget, there's a hi-res Avenger to drop into the mix now. Plus a little surprise I'm working on for CAW that could be added to SPAW.

And we all should be grateful for your hard work on these scenarios, thank you Sir (and all involved).

Thank you.

There are some old timers here who know my story.

Back in 2000 my wife contracted MS. Within a year I had to quit work to care for her. It was quite a change from IT manager to nurse. I didn't always handle it that well but I was always trying my best.

I got deep into modding EAW during those years for the brain exercise and the sense of community. I think it helped save my life, no kidding.

My wife passed away in 2010 and I'm married again to a woman who lost her spouse to Parkinson's Disease after caring for him for 25 years. Needless to say we are committed to getting the most out of life in the time we have remaining. So I don't get as much time for modding as I used to but when I have some idle time I do get back to it. Hence, the Hi-res Avenger that I promised Mr. Jelly about four years ago.

Didn't mean to hi-jack the post but it's important that you all know what this world means to me.

A bit late but my sincere condolences, Ray. Must have been quite difficult times. But is good to see that you're enjoying your life again, you well deserve it, mate.
Would be good if you could pop up to an online flight one of these days. Once again thank you for your efforts to the community. thumbsup

Cheers

Next Sunday's games occur on the day that daylight saving starts in Europe. So this should put us in phase with the USA where it has already started.
It will be another week before the States in Australia that use it and New Zealand return from daylight saving.

fly a bit every day off-line and sometimes just do touch and goes or mess around with stuff from sandbaggers site to see how they look.

When I joined Trindade and Lolo had been flying successfully already, but had run into problems with SPAW. I tried hosting but things did not improve. We could not even get a two person game going.
We switched to ETO BargeTrain and found that Lolo and I could fly OK.
The same with SPAW45, so we switched back to SPAW and it worked perfectly.
By that time Trindade was no longer there, but we had some good games.
Both Lolo and I think that the problem we encountered must somehow have been with GameRanger, because we did not change files or folders frown

Hoping for better luck next time smile

wink
