While waiting for my 60 inch Plasma HDTV, stand, and theater chair, to be delivered later TODAY... decided to start hanging up my art work I've bought many moons ago, framed then put up in the attic... Still much more work to do, but running out of space, funny how that roomed look so much bigger empty, but just moving in the 5.1 speakers has taken up a lot... more pics later today when the TV and chair are here... then eventually the complete package... still have DieCast helicopters, tanks, and race cars to find a spot for, lol...

Wall 1 (left side as i sit (when I get the chair):

Wall 2 (where the TV will go, left my daughters writing on the walls, and the clouds I painted on the ceiling for her when she was just 5 or so, to remember here by):

Wall 3 (right side from sitting position):

to be continued...

Cool room, looking forward to seeing more. I have slowly been putting together a similar room, but the theme is aircraft instead of tanks smile

Good idea actually... and a bar... running out of room fast... problem with my AMP and 5.1 surround Sound speakers... rooms just to damn small, and the amp wouldn't fit in the stand... so I switched to my trusted Yamaha 500 watt sound bar w/ sub, very do-able in that small room, but even it wouldn't fit in the new stand so sitting on the floor... so I got to do some adjusments and tuning for the new man cave... but it's usuable now... and to think, I also wanted to move my PC in there and a racing cockpit... already full, that chair alone seems to take up 1/5 of the room. wink

Nice work, really reminds of of my very small and modest home theater/sim room. My room is almost identical in size and the door and window are in the same place too! I still need to get a futon or sleeper sofa in mine, I'd really like a few home theater chairs though if I ever get the funds.

I've got a bad feeling about this.....

Looking good!
One day I hope to do it properly. Mine is literally a cave, a 3 walled alcove off of the living room. LOL
Hope to have the full deal in the next house..brick wall, hardwood like you've got there...and a classic barber chair for gaming.
Now lets get a picture with the lights down and those starts glowing! Throw in OFDR and run that sniper spotting mission towards the end. You've got the room right to set the mood with those on the ceiling.
I like the tanks.

Observant... painted clouds on the ceiling, made 2 of the clouds look like a dog and a cat... should of made them look like game characters. wink

Door locks, I only have the key, and my house has a camera and an alarm on it now.

Mount the bar on top of the TV. I'm using a pair of these although with a 32" TV and bottom mount (it's on a high wall mount, ear the ceiling). You want the bar up high (to a point - not next to the ceiling which is why mine is bottom-mounted).

There are other solutions - do some research to find the best fit.

That's very cool indeed. I had no idea about his involvement with iRacing. As for me, I'll always be a Gordon fan for better or worse. smile

Yep longtime Gordon fan here too smile

I usually pull for JG and Jr when I watch the races and for Montoya to do something stupid and take himself out hehe, which is ironic because I was a fan of his in CART and F1 but he is a trainwreck in NASCAR and GrandAm.

A 60" plasma TV? In a small room? In FLORIDA??

You like sweating while you game, Mag? eek Those things feel like there's a bank of halogen bulbs behind the screen. Unless you live north of Seattle I would never recommend a plasma TV, I'd go LCD or best LED.

I have a 46" LCD TV in my bedroom and I keep the brightness on level 5 (of 10) or it gets too hot in there. I have an LED TV in the main room and it's always cool. smile

Current gen plasmas put out less heat, use less power and have better contrast ratios than every LCD Screen.

The Main reasons gamers stayed away from plasma's was burn in issues, that simply dont exist anymore..

LEDs on the other hand, pretty much have the top spot now.

So it's
LED>PLASMA>CCFL-LCD.

That's very cool indeed. I had no idea about his involvement with iRacing. As for me, I'll always be a Gordon fan for better or worse. smile

Dale Jr. was regularly on iRacing .. not as much the last few years.

LEDs on the other hand, pretty much have the top spot now.

So it's
LED>PLASMA>CCFL-LCD.

That's funny, because every plasma I've seen in the store has been FAR hotter than my 5-yr old LCD TV. Of course, as I said I keep the backlight at 50%, so maybe at 100% the LCD might be a bit hotter than the plasma at 100%, but I would never do that.

yeah, LCDs at 100% Backlight are hotter than Plasmas.

My Old LCD when dropped to 60% Backlight, Cut the heat output by over half...

In my bedroom, in about 30 mins at 100% the temp rose 5 degrees. I got up and as I walked by the TV I felt how hot it was, despite how cool florescent bulbs usually are, so I lowered it to 50% on that day and never changed it.

It helps that I only use that TV at night in a room with the shades closed, so it never has to fight with daylight.

actually, pretty damn good... played a number of games yesterday on it, testing most... at 1920x1080x32... with a setup like that, who needs a new console. wink nvidea settings are "force max quality'; so no zags or anything... surfing the web is a little off, fonts can be a little small and fuzzy...

My Q. if anyone knows is about sound... 360 and PS3 play at 5.1 and it's frecking incredible, say what you will about CoD: BO2... but the surround sound is fantastic, could hear people walking up on me, also heard someone reloading in my right rear, turned around and capped him in the dark shadows... 5.1 SS really adds to gaming. But the PC is connected and thou sound is played through all 5.1 speakers, it's not proper surround sound, and the sound settings only have 2 channel (stereo) available, but I know it has 5.1 capability... any ideas?

Using A Addon Sound card or mainboard sound?

Look for the RealTekHD Audio Control Panel.

60" plasma TV? In a small room? In FLORIDA??

I was really concerned about that...and plasma's in general.. I went looking for a LED... but the guy seemed smart at the store, I questioned him, and the Plasma was cheaper...so obviously he was trying to screw me out of more money... he said for gaming and watching sports, due to the speed of the pictures... Plasma was/is the best... he also said a lot of the negatives have been addressed in the last few years... burn in, over heating etc etc... it's in a dark room and great for gaming and Motorsports...so I bit.

I did the temp test, tested room without anything on at 10 AM, was 75 degrees, (my AC setting), turned everything on, watched a race, played Xbox then PC... 4 PM tested again and only 78 degrees... so a little increase but also this is Florida, of course afternoon is hotter then morning... i think it just makes the AC work a little harder.

Thanks for the feedback. Still considering to add a 50" next to my work desk, put a wheelstand in front and switch monitors dynamically depending on what I want to do (work or shooters vs. racing...)

Very cool! smile

But no stack of music, no Floyd paraphernalia, no Jessica Alba figurines. Excellent room, no doubt, but perhaps it could use a touch more... soul.

You need a Jimi Hendrix poster at least.

Magnum you had my chair is it a lazy boy the one with the beer cooler built in,
You even had the framed pictures of armour on the walls.
Hope you get your man cave back some day. But I hope I get mine some day more.LoL

I know what its like to lose something you love my wife gave away my lazy boy because it looked faded.
I had a really good collection of die cast tanks, kids got to them when the were young not so good any more.
so I made the decision I would wait till they all left home before it built my dream cave

I presume you're attempting to output the sound via optical/TOSlink? If so, it doesn't have enough bandwidth to carry uncompressed audio and the actual S/PDIF specification can only carry 2-channel PCM data hence why 2-channel stereo is only available. The way around it is to ensure that you are sending it to your amp in PCM format and configure the onboard decoders of the amp to output the sound to your 5.1 speakers.

It will work, it just isn't 'true' 5.1 audio. An alternative, and if your soundcard supports it is to use the 'passthrough' mode, or you can push the audio through HDMI. Worst case is to get hold of a better sound card that can encode and output the audio streams to your amp using the full 6 channels.
