Hi all. Would anyone care to offer some finer points on this game? I know how to pass, how to run... the basics. Yet my own teams performance is really bad. There's the stragegy pad and a ton of other stuff I don't get. I'm after all new to football as a whole, and I suppose better control of the advanced play options will increase AI performance.

I'm not even going to start and pick plays yet... gameflow works fine for me. Thankfull for any help.

That is your main problem. In football you need to think on your feet and use audibles to change your play in progress. You start by guessing what type of play your opponent will run be it a pass or run. Then you expand on your selection by calling audibles to change your format before the snap.

You should first work on learning how to tell if you should pick a pass or run defense. Then after you get good at that start trying to guess which side they will run/pass to. Once you figure that out learn all the audible calls and start changing your selected defense to what you think they will be doing.

Then once you get good on defense start doing the same for offense by reading all the defense motions you just learned so that you can find the weakness in their line.

calling audibles on offense is a must, can't tell you how many times I wanted to do a running play to a side where the D is over powered and I wouldn't stand a chance.

Okay so the Gameflow selected play is sometimes going to fail on setup alone? How does it work in real life - the offense picks a play, watches the def and then amends it?
Audible I understand allows QuickPass, Run, Deep Pass and PAPass - what is the last one?

Also I have a problem with the visuals... I can see the play art, but not always see the button for the reciever. For example I select Quickpass, the guy with the red line might be out of camera FOV so I don't know before the snap which button will the pass be.

Sorry for all the questions...thanks for the help.

Normally when you are selecting your play it will tell you what button goes to which receiver. Then when you go to snap there should be a button you can bring up to refresh your memory. I normally let it sit with the buttons over their heads for a second or two and I mentally run their lines and make a mental note on how many have already locked on which receiver. Then you snap, follow who is going where and then toss it out.

PA Pass = Play Action pass. It is basically a fake run. The quarterback fakes a hand-off to the running back and then drops back to pass. Generally, if it looks like the defense is going to blitz you will not have enough time to get a play-action pass off.
