Quote:
We were *this close*, but a last-minute bug found with the new online map (the largest of three) means we have to recompile and rebuild everything – and that means it’s not going to finish today. The bug, for the curios, entailed giant 1500-foot grass suddenly growing all around you at altitudes below 500 feet. Quite a sight to see actually. Almost sad we found it first.

So, barring more botanic discoveries, we’ll have it out no earlier than the end of the day Monday.

Some patch info. The size is 490 MB, 300 of that being the new sounds. The speech sounds are now out in the open by the way, so you can play with them old Il-2 style.

The colors are greatly improved. See attached screenshots.
The new plane-seat selection co-op interface is there, as well as a few more surprises (not the big one though).

Sorry folks, we really tried!

I personally like the warmer tone on the landscape colors.

The pics are stunning. That shoreline in pic #2 is showing the "transparent" water. The graphics alone are worth the weekend wait, can hardly wait to hear the new Merlin sounds.

Based upon a very complex 'new release algorithm' far too complex to explain here, I predict the patch will be reased September 26th. Now, take that with the humor it was intended. Im enjoying it as is and figure the patch will make it prettier and better whenever it gets released. The new sounds and stills seem to bear this out.......so far.

Horrido!

Don't ask, it's far to complex smile

That gotta be an all made-up excuse and not a real bug.
At least I very much hope so.

Will this ever become a stable sim?
Do they know what they're doing?

Why would you make something like that up? He obviously found it funny and thought we would too. As to whether they know what they're doing, have you actually played this thing and seen the level of detail they've given us? Sure there are many bugs, but slowly slowly catch a monkey etc...

I know they have had problems from the start.. so why wouldn't this be a real bug?
Hopefully given time it will come right, but just calling them liars for the sake of it isn't helping anyone really..

Yeah, I know I'm rather silly unlike those praising whatever Mr L says on bananaforums - afterall big cheers helps removing bugs and is even known to make developers write stable, secure and well managed code.

Atleast that's what I've read on internet.

Oh no. Now I have to dig the yard this weekend. duh

Furbs, you're right in that it's very good he communicated what's going on - that really will help them as most of the 'Angry Mr Man' stuff they get is just frustration from not knowing what's going on (and the community, dare I say it, being a tad needy and obsessed smile )

I do like the look of that beach though.

I'd love to see that bug. Sounds hilarious. I like the new landscape shading. Everything looked good before, but it was something like the sunniest day of the year all the time.

The world is going mad. Me? I'm doing fine!

It's no big deal.. if the patch isn't ready then so what.. My life doesn't hang by a thread just because the game is not sorted..
There are other games, there is real life as well to keep us all occupied until the game is put right.. Get some bloody perspective for gods sake!

Hmmm... spiffy screens it has to be said. Still on the fence with too much on my plate anyway, but the old interest is definitely piqued again regardless smile Here's hoping Luthier & Co. eventually get it sorted out!

I know mate, I'm the same.. having been a die hard IL2 fan for years I'm still hoping they will pull this out of the bag.. Truth be told, I haven't even bothered to play this for months now. When its sorted and we can play the damn thing without drama I'll throw myself back into the curve.. smile

Frogy, Luthier didnt need to write that short update im sure, but its worth it.
For me(notice i said for ME) it sets a tone and a feeling about the development team.
Plus it prob helps MODS all round the world have a quieter weekend. smile
