I dunno, I think the greenish environment looks more lush and nice than the next-gen brown autumn...

I agree with Flexman, moreover season switcher is a great idea. And everyone will be happy if they can add him.

The never ending cycle of tree growth and regrowth goes through another cycle.

Still looks like Elwynn Forest. With some colour and height variation from a shader it should look better. The difficult part is blending LOD transitions that work in most lighting conditions. I feel your pain AD.

Variation helps a lot, as does darkening. Variation via shader may run into problems with billboards LOD popping unless billboard.vert is given a major reworking to handle scale and colour. It's probably simpler to control variation via material and mesh like this.

There's some interesting twists and turns in the way the engine generates billboards that need to be understood but I'm fairly close to getting the billboards to blend in properly. And bacon fields now come complete with straw bails.

Pretty cool. Will we see a small sized town or simply the tiny village with one street we saw some pages before?

-Sir in case of retreat, were we have to retreat??

I don't know, I haven't decided what to do next with the range. There's 4 or 5 small urban areas and they generally feel big enough for the size of the terrain. A town might be a little too much icing on the cake.

Cheers

Mmmmm bacon. He's referring to fields with bronwish stripes across them, look like tasty strips of streaky bacon. Not to be confused with back bacon aka Canadian bacon.

that is really great, but close to ground level, the ground texture's wood chip and fiber length seem a bit too long. it looks like the ground is full of clumps of really big hay.

At the moment the terrain textures are scaled to provide ground detail at helicopter height. If you use a very fine scale with terrain textures then at a certain altitude they blend into a single colour and you lose all height and speed perception.

We've discussed the possibility of modifying scale when on foot. In which case you'd see textures scaled like this when walking around.

The range has something very similar. Afghan compound mock-ups. A container city is another option.

It's the start of the new school year here so I've not had as much time to work on CH as I would have liked. The workload is starting to ease off and I've been working on some other scenery. I'm looking forward to being able to work on CH full time in the not too distant future.

Cheers

It's supposed to be Longbow 2 with trees. Me thinks this is a little more fancy and comes with a 'green' message wink

Up close, it looks like a previous gen first person shooter. Very impressive, given that it's a flight sim!
