This whole T.A.R.G.E.T software is the best part of this so far. My question for you guys is can/will our old Cougar profiles be able to seamlessly function or be able to be accessed and updated within the T.A.R.G.E.T software? I would believe that is why Nutty was under the NDA for part of this as well.
I am glad that we have some news and glad that we have some people getting hands on for these items. I will reserve final judgment once I see the information on the innards of the stick.

I'm betting the profiles are non-transferable.
The big question is (for me) whether this stick is as hard to move as the Cougar?
The whole "it's a manly man stick for manly man planes flown by manly men, and manly men only fly airplanes that require 400 foot pounds to move the ailerons five degrees" thing was the final straw that put my Cougar in the closet.

How about I think I put the plastic back over the stick and throttle after the four hours I dinked with it?
I should have bought two of them, though - I snagged it when CompUSA was shutting down for a (comparative) song.
PM me.

If he doesn't take it Dart let me know...I know a couple of boys in my house that would love to have ANOTHER Cougar once I get my hands on the Warthog...provided the Warthog is all its supposed to be. Besides I am just about 20 minutes north of ya.

Whatever it is, it'll be worth it by the looks of things. Dunno what the EURO-$ exchange rate is at the moment but the prices I've seen are ~EUR400. I know what my Afghan deployment bonus will be paying for this time around ![biggrin biggrin](/forum/images/graemlins/default/biggrin.gif)

I, for one, am sick for the Warthog and ready any day. I admit I was skeptical at first. But after seeing it, and reading the first SimHQ report (thanks guys!!!) I admit I will have no choice when it is released. The A10 is my fav plane of all time. LOMAC FC 2.0 and soon DCS: A10 will be my end-all, be-all... Thrustmaster could not have timed this better! I upgraded my Cougar about a year ago now. Full Hall sensors, upgraded gimbals, upgraded throttle pots, tightened everything up. I went all out and worked on it till it was perfect. And it still is. So it will be interesting to compare the two once the Warthog is released. When the Warthog was first announced I thought "no way this could compete with what I've built." Now I'm not so sure! lol And then I'll just sell whichever one I like least. ![smile smile](/forum/images/graemlins/default/smile!.gif)

"It has no input for rudderpedals" THAT is your reaction... well, i would not want to develop anything for the flight simulation marked, reading such reactions would take the fun out of my work for sure. Edit: It does not make coffee either! What a let down, worst product ever ![wink wink](/forum/images/graemlins/default/wink!.gif) Well i'm buying this, i can not see a single thing that would not be better than my modded cougar. Perfect. Thrustmaster, get on with it, release that thing already.

Any word on the possibility of a long version of the stick? That large plate on the bottom screams "nail me to the floor"!

Yes it does Tbag and that would be a logical place for it as well. Since you can interchange the handle between the Cougar and Warthog I would imagine that someone who has already built a long stick extension mod for the Cougar should be able to make one for the Warthog that allows full functionality as well.

I'm not a great modder so I really hope that there will be an official version.

When I read about the lack of rudder support my mood suddenly dropped. I finally decided to go for F-16/C Simpeds. They arrived 6 days ago, what a f***cked up timing. If you have a Cougar with rudder pedals that you currently use connected to the Cougar, our understanding is that you will able to keep them connected this way, program them in T.A.R.G.E.T, and combine their axis or axes into a virtual controller. Placing the Cougar with pedals connected somewhere below the desk would be a solution. I sure hope that's going to work, because otherwise I'll stick to the Cougar for a long while. Other than that the Warthog sounds like a great piece of hardware. Thanks for the review!

Cmon guys, really? There are a ton of rudder pedal solutions out there. I wouldn't expect TM to cater to a nearly ten year old piece of hardware. Gotta keep with the times. Otherwise we'd all still be pressing the turbo button on our PC XT to increase frame rate in Falcon 1.0. Besides, I thought the idea behind Simped was it could work inline of any stick? I don't know much about them. Personally took my ECCI pedals (with clutch) and with about 10 mins of wiring and couple switches...voila...excellent rudder pedals (and they don't require me to lay my feet flat on the floor like my old CH pedals!) Anyway...there are so many other rudder solutions out there. And there's no reason to assume that a rudder solution should be integrated with the HOTAS. It's not HOTASAFOR, right? ![smile smile](/forum/images/graemlins/default/smile!.gif) I just don't see how it's a big deal. Bring on the HOG!!!

It's not HOTASAFOR, right? ![smile smile](/forum/images/graemlins/default/smile!.gif) Simpeds (with the Cougar/Gameport connector) are designed so they perfectly integrate with the Cougar and its software, just like Thrustmaster's ancient RCS did. There are Simpeds for USB as well, but given the perfect Cougar integration, I decided to get the Cougar version. They're quite expensive but really worth it. I'm just disappointed that TM left the pedal integration out of their otherwise top notch product. You're right in that the gameport connector is ancient, but I'm guessing a lot of simmers out there would like to continue using their old pedals. I sure do, given that mine are actually brand new. :-)

Cmon guys, really? There are a ton of rudder pedal solutions out there. I wouldn't expect TM to cater to a nearly ten year old piece of hardware. Given that they've gone with 2 separate USB devices this time and learning from their past omissions (Dx Axis limitation), I would have liked to see TM at least still have a port on the stick for the old style pedals. I can understand their reasoning, but I don't have to like their decisions.
