Traffic was a pain (2+ hours each getting on and off the base), and the lighting was not photographer friendly, so I didn't get great photographic quality shots (plus I can get in the way of my camera doing it's job smile ), but man, what a show. So many unique and interesting aircraft!

#1 Two F-16s. Not a great shot, and not that interesting, but I had to include it because of the passengers. The front plane has General Yeager in the back seat, and the second plane has General Engle (X-15 and space shuttle pilot, among other things). They opened the show with two double sonic booms in these planes.

#2 A-10 demo

#3 More A-10

#4 And yet more A-10

#5 The White Knight, the mothership of the Spaceship 1 that won the X Prize, was on display (it's now being used by Northrop Grumman for high-altitude aerodynamics testing)

#6 Global Hawk on display

#7 F-16D in the hangar

You know, a B-17 in bare metal just looks... wrong smile I've so used to seeing them in greens.

Great shots. That White Knight II is one incredible looking engineering achievement. I mean..it really does look like it should snap in the middle. And are both "booms" crewed by pilots flying or is only one side crewed and the other with pax? Gotta look up some info on that..

Cool pics..

Thanks for the comments, everyone.

Beach, I don't know how they work it on actual launch flights, but they said during the show that only the right boom was crewed.

If I remember correctly, one boom is used as the active "flying" control, whereas the other boom is used to train/familiarise another crew. Don't know which is which though.

Great shooting though! thumbsup
(Could use some aircraft up here, as well as some decent weather before the lights go out...)

Great shots! I took advantage of my wife being employed there and went for the "employees and guests" day on Friday. They have a dress rehersal of the show . . . and the static aircraft are all much less formal. And of course the BONUS of hardly any crowds.

Its been too long since Edwards has had a show!
