I've tried every combination possible to get my Saitek X45 throttle to behave properly. It's still backwards. (i.e. pull it toward me to increase thrust.)
I've reset it about 20 times, i've tried clicking the invert axis checkbox... nothing. It's always the same. Backwards.

Other main problem, I don't know what happened, but my view in the cockpit is zoomed in further than it was when I first fired up the game. I can not zoom out enough to even see my whole gunsight. I only get half of it because the windscreen support column is blocking my view.

I've read the other thread on how to reset the view, by changing the pilot head movement (clearing zoom out) and making sure the camera zoom was working properly. This did nothing. My view is permanently 'zoomed' in a bit and I cannot zoom it out enough to see what's going on in my cockpit. I have to move my view around a lot to see my gauges.

Please give me some advice here, as changing my settings (with a new Save As file, yes, thanks) seems to do absolutely nothing.

With my X52 I ended up editing the map file in notepad.

Go into the data/input folder in your RoF folder and open the *.map file you saved in notepad.

Press ctrl+f to bring up the find prompt and paste in "RPC_THROTTLE_" (no quotes)

You will find a line like this: action("RPC_THROTTLE_N",State,joy1_axis_Z);

If you have a P after RPC_THROTTLE_ then change it to an N or vice versa.

Save it and close it, that will fix your throttle. I had to do the same for my rudder, if you need to look for that one it's RPC_YAW_

Great, thanks Jeevz. My throttle is now functioning properly. I had to change the P to an N and now it's correct.

Now, I just need to get my view back, so I can fully zoom out and see more of my cockpit.

The only thing I can think of that changed was I had initially mapped Engine start to the big orange button on my throttle control. Initially, when I would press it, the view would zoom out a bit as well as start/stop the engine. So, I cleared out Engine start to be back to the E key. That's the only change I made and now my view is partially zoomed in and I can only zoom out slightly. I still don't have a very wide FOV. frown

Oh, I found that if I press the HOME key, my head moves back in the pit, giving me a wider FOV.I think I will have to do this every time... or, I guess I could use my TrackIR!!

TrackIR would be your best bet if you have it. The mouse wheel changes FOV and two buttons on the stick default to zoom in and out. I remapped them so I can't tell you which ones.

As far as positioning your head you can move it around to where you want the default center to be then press F10 to save it. You will still always have to set your FOV at the start of every mission though. I just use the mouse whweel to set it before pressing P to start.

Check the settings - there is a 'start in XXX view' setting on one of the panels I believe (at work so cant check)

Cheers

Unfortunately the FOV slider in the settings panel seems to have no effect, at least it doesn't when using TrackIR.

I also have an X-45 and my throttle will not work at all. The joystick works and the twist rudder on the throttle works (yaw) but the throttle itself does not (the + and - keys do work). I have tried changing the N to P with no luck but I am not sure what else to try. Here is what is in my input.map file.

action("RPC_THROTTLE_N",State,joy0_axis_Z);
action("RPC_THROTTLE_P",State,key_EQUALS);
action("RPC_THROTTLE_N",State,key_MINUS);

IF anyone can help - thanks

Is the throttle on the X45 an axis or a slider(RoF might not see it differently either way)? Maybe snapdad could post the line from his map file and you can see if there's a difference.

Turned out it was the P axis just in case anyone else has this problem

Sure thing, Jeevz.

action("RPC_THROTTLE_N",State,joy0_axis_P);

This is the line that I had to modify. It used to say RPC_THROTTLE_P ... and that's when everything worked 'backwards'.

I changed the P to an N (leave the joy0_axis_P alone) and my throttle works as I would expect it to.

EDIT: By the way, I only have one reference in my map file to throttles and that's the line. There were at one point a couple throttle inputs (presumably positive/negative). You need only ONE. Use the line above in your .map and see how that works. If you're still 'backward', just change the P to an N, or vice versa.
